Another night deprived of slumber. Or so it would seem. We went to the Hindu Temple here in Lubbock, that I didn't know existed until Wednesday, for some kind of festival. I'm not sure what it was. I thought we were just going for Indian food. We did get to eat some Indian food, which on the one hand was nice because I haven't had Indian food in forever, but on the down side since it was in a Temple, no meat was allowed, and tofu marsala just isn't the same. Afterwards there was dancing to (imho) much too loud Indian music. The dancing was kinda fun to watch at first, but after a while got boring. It probably didn't help that the dancing started after nine, and most nights I'm in bed by nine. (When did I get old? I'm only 45, well almost 46.) Overall though it wasn't a bad night. Except now, for some reason, I can't sleep. I'm not even sure if I can't sleep or just don't want to sleep. Either way it's a little frustrating.
In other news my statistics class seems to be going about as good as the last time I tried it. Of course last time I kept missing classes because of sleep issues. This time I'm not missing classes, yet still seem to be doing worse on each exam. Okay, we've only had two, and while I passed the first one (barely) I'm quite sure I failed the second. I took the exam, and discovered I'd completely forgotten how to solve:
n
y
turns out it's;
n!
y!(n-y)!
Two of the problems required knowing that to solve. At least I know it now. In my international trade class we've had one exam. I went from a B to an A after I brought it to the professor's attention that there was an error in the answer key. I'm surprised nobody else caught it.
This is homecoming week, whatever that is. All I know is it means a BIG football (American football) game this Saturday. So the decision was made to move our game to Mad Hatter's as the parking on campus will probably be worse than normal for a football game. On the bright side we don't have to worry about being quiet. On the downside nobody else will either, which, as I recall, is why we moved our game to the library. I seem to have a pretty solid group of nine players now, which is good. They're slowly making their way through the first level of the dungeon. Of course to get there they had an overland trek followed by a spelunking expedition, the infiltration of a troglodyte village, and an assault on the troglodyte Temple. I think it's going well.
Well that's enough writing for now. Gonna try sleeping again.
