Unlawful Carnal Knowledge

Years ago, I somehow came across The Complete Net Guide to Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. It was a collection of "rules" and stuff for sex in tabletop RPGs. Particularly D&D. In fact anyone familiar with 1st ed. AD&D can easily tell that the contributers were primarily players of AD&D. The netbook wasn't the work of any one person, but rather was a collaboration of numerous people. While some of the material is frankly juvenile (mummy crotch rot comes to mind) much of the material such as rules/guidelines for getting pregnant and pregnancies, were well thought out, researched and, in the right circumstances useful. So much so that somewhere between ten and fifteen years ago (man am I old), I started updating and revising the material for 3rd ed. D&D. A project I never finished, as I got married and moved from Virginia to Texas, in the process losing the computer my work was on, as well as my 3rd ed. D&D books. Without my work thus far, my rulebooks, and most importantly a game group, my little project was forgotten. Then last week, I decided to restart my project, this time revising/updating it for Pathfinder. In lieu of my other Pathfinder projects I'm restricting my work to weekends only. I don't know what I'll do once school starts. I'm also being a bit more pragmatic in my approach, focusing on the most useful chapters and skipping over the others for now, possibly eliminating some of them entirely. This is useful as the book is over a hundred pages in length packed with a lot of information. Some material I'm skipping, because it would take too long to do, like the spells. I mean I don't really need a bunch of spells for sex, pregnancy, and motherhood. I can do them later if I need/want them. Some material I'm skipping because I don't know what I'm going to do with it, like subclasses. Subclasses were a thing in 1st ed., but not in later editions. When doing the 3rd ed. revision, I originally planned to convert them to prestige classes. I'm not sure if I'm going to do that as Pathfinder doesn't make as much use of prestige classes as 3rd ed. Actually apart from the half dozen or so in the core rulebook, none of the dozen or so rulebooks have any prestige classes in them, though many introduce new classes. So the question I'm facing is do I write them up as prestige classes, or convert them into full 20 level classes? Since I see neither myself or my players needing classes that specialize in sex anytime soon, I can skip them for now. Some material I'm re-researching as the resources available now are much greater than when the guide was originally conceived. All in all it's a mammoth undertaking, one which no one else will probably ever see.

In my other Pathfinder work, I finished adventure 3, abd have started on adventure 4. Adventure 4 is going to consist of four parts. In part one the party will track a group of slavers to the ruins of a temple. There they'll discover that the slavers are selling their captives to orcs. In part two they'll track the slaves and orcs to an orcish outpost/fort in the wild plains of the Frontier Lands. In the third part they'll track everything to an orc city in the mountains and prepare for the confrontation with the orc leader(s), only to be captured. In part four they escape their prison, and make their way through a labyrinth to the actual final confrontation. I'm about halfway done with part one. I'll probably skip parts two and three because part four is the next clearest concept. I'll go back and do parts two and three after. The tricky part of this is creating the multitude of NPCs. Since "standard" orcs are challenge rating 1/2, they need to be buffed uo a bit to face a party of 10th to 12th level. Of course the more I make the faster I get. I don't know if I'll be finished adventure four before classes start. Of course I don't expect the group to finish adventure two until next summer break (if then). So I've got some time.

On nonRPG related news . . . There's not a whole lot to tell. I hurt my left shoulder somehow. I thought it was getting better, but seems to be hurting almost as much this weekend as last. I've already been to the VA, they couldn't find anything wrong, but gave me some ointment to put on it. I'm hoping it's better enough for me to start working out again next week. I already missed last week because of it, and the first two weeks of July for other reasons. I started working out on a semi regular basis in June. My short term goals are to get my weight down to 250lbs., and be able to do ten situps and fifteen minutes on the elliptical. I was doing pretty well in June managing two to four days a week. I'm hoping to push myself up to five days a week by the time school starts. Fortunately the apartment complex here has a free gym. Well not free exactly, it's included in the rent. But as we're chronically short on money, we couldn't afford a gym membership. With school out Cha lost a sizable chunk of income, and while much better for my health the job at the Tech library doesn't pay as well as the convenience store.
