So Friday I went to Chinese buffet. Unremarkable in itself, but then I got the fortune cookie. The little slip inside read, "Tomorrow your creative side will shine forth with exceptional ideas." I had to laugh, because the next day, Saturday was the first meeting of my game group. After being in Lubbock for eight and half years, I've finally got a game group. Seven players plus myself as the GM, meaning my creative side does indeed get to shine forth.
The first session went great. One player was absent, but the other six and I got together at
Mad Hatters to finalize characters and put the group together. The latter was fun, because I used a technique from the Ultimate Campaign guide, where each player's character knows the characters of the players seated to either side of him/her. This resulted in the dwarf who hated orcs having to know the half-orc barbarian, and the tiefling paladin knowing the sylph rogue. We all had a good time, and I'm looking forward to the session when we actually start playing.
