phoebe cates is sick. she is sniffling, sneezing, very lethargic, and she won’t eat her food. we took her to the vet a couple days ago, after it had been going on for a few days, and the vet told us that phoebe cates has an upper respiratory virus (the same thing she had when we first got her) and the meds we are giving her for the allergic reaction on her tummy make her immune system weak. she said that if it didn’t let up by friday to bring her back in. and it looks like we’re going to have to do that.
she has seemed to have gotten worse because, before we took her to the vet, she was atleast eating a little bit of her food. and since we’ve brought her back, until now, she has only wanted to stay in the darkest corner of our closet. she’s only just wandered out tonight to be somewhat social. we took advantage of that situation and gave her her meds, tried to inject food in her mouth (we only got as lucky as injecting two 1 ml. tube fulls), and then tried to give her the children’s benadryl that the vet recommended we give her. the benadryl was a HUGE mistake. she literally started foaming at the mouth…and pretty much started spitting it out. and the vet said that we wouldn’t do that so long as we didn’t get grape flavored. yeah. we felt pretty awful about that.
and yes. i totally got to be the bad guy who got to inject all the stuff in her mouth while mark held her…or else i pinned her down whilst injecting the stuff in her mouth. surprisingly, she didn’t bear her claws once nor did she hiss. and some how, she has forgiven me and decided to not run back into the closet to hide but, instead, sit right next to me in the sitting room as i type out this here entry. she is a darling.
i hope that her just wanting to be around us right now means she’s maybe even getting just a little bit better.
she looks so pathetic and it really is pretty hard to watch and hear her wheezing, sniffling, and sneezing.
our rittle cat…
little prayers please.
