I'm onto my third office mate. The second one left for better office positioning closer to our team lead. While that's a great office that I was also offered (because our team lead is where all the projects and information flows from), I didn't want to share an even tinier office (2/3 of the space I currently have) and no windows. I like my window view. And I don't need to be swamped by team lead projects.
So the current one is a new hire. And we have so much in common it's funny at times. He likes manga and anime and mods his consoles and is about the same level as me at Guitar Hero and doesn't like to take medication unless absolutely necessary and Golden Gate Bakery is his go-to place and he likes Beard Papa. I have a much stronger rapport with him than I did with Michael, but I know that Michael was better for my character and interaction with other people and the way I speak. It was also nice to bounce things off of Michael. But now I have a anime source and he said he'd let me borrow his PS1 for a game that I've been wanting to play forever. I hope to be able to convince him to let me borrow his Guitar Hero guitar so that
mavjop and I can play together sometime.
Had my 2 week meeting with mgr. I don't feel confident. I asked point blank if what I was doing was impressing him. Because I have my own view and I think I'm impressive, but what I think doesn't count here. He said, "You're doing good," to which I immediately countered, "But is it *impressive* since that's the goal here?" I feel like I had to pry it out of him to keep things up. I want a strong "You're giving me lots of ammunition to brng to them," and I feel like I'm getting a "You're doing your job well," without really acknowledging if I am meeting the requirements to stay in my position for May or even reinforcing that I have been.
