Annoying Comics I Like

No, not comic books. Comics and comedians who become actors in funny movies. There are some people who actually kind of annoy me with their performance, and yet I still like them and watch their movies anyway. You've missed my favorite, "Love and Death," which is to Woody Allen what "Inglourious Basterds" is to Tarantino.

Woody Allen always said he consciously based his screen persona on Bob Hope's: this particular combination of smart-aleck, coward and horndog. It's not a comparison that frequently occurs to people, but it makes sense. (Note that the SCTV parody "Play It Again, Bob" had a spectral Bob Hope appearing to Woody; aside from the fact that Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas could do uncannily good Allen and Hope impressions, I'm pretty sure it was an intentional reference.)
