Too Bad This Wasn't Really On TV

In last night's dream, I was obsessed with an old sitcom about an English Lord (or maybe just a landed knight or something like that.) Unfortunately, the population of the villages in his titled lands had dropped to zero, and furthermore he had no retainers to keep up his mansion or wait on him in the manner he was accustomed to; plus, he had a reputation for being impossible to please and very annoying, so no one in England was willing to hire on as his butler, cook, or anything else. So he was forced to advertise for someone abroad, and an American took the job... but the American's real motive was that the lord's bloodtype was so rare, the American could make a fortune selling the lord's plasma.

The problem was, though, that the American was the only person who accepted a position, so the lord expected him to fill *all* the roles. Oh, and the lord expected his servant to wear 17th century costumes appropriate for each role, so the American servant had to run around, changing costumes, acting as driver for the lord's coach, then quickly changing into a footman's livery (complete with powdered wig in disarray) and open the door for the lord, then run ahead and dress up as his valet and prepare the lord's bath, then change into a chef's costume and prepare the meal... Also, the lord would want to visit the village and talk to "his people", and the American servant had to dress up as various villagers. Much wackiness and hijinx.

I think the American servant was Bill Bixby, looking a little like he did in My Favorite Martian. Maybe he was in this sitcom between that show and The Courtship of Eddie's Father.

I'm wondering how rare someone's bloodtype has to be to make it more valuable than a valet's wages. Or at least make it valuable enough that Bill Bixby would put up with all that crap until he had an opportunity to siphon some off.

What would the name of this sitcom be?

funny, dreams
