Almost everyone loves movies. A very few don't. The rest generally consider them weird.
It's more fun to see a movie with someone else. Many people find a special person who they enjoy seeing movies with. Others will go to a movie alone if there's no one else available, or with a casual friend or acquintance.
If you have a special person with whom you usually see movies, you're considered a couple. Many couples prefer to go to movies together; often, though, if one of them isn't available or isn't interested, the other will go to a movie alone. No one thinks this is strange, but it can be a little embarassing to be seen watching a movie alone if you're part of a couple. Sometimes, one of them will see a movie with someone else. If the other person in the couple knows about this and considers it OK, there's no conflict; but if they think that the first person never sees movies with anyone else when in fact they do, it can be upsetting to the non-movie-goer when they find out. It's not a very nice thing to do. Many other people consider it wrong for persons in a couple to see movies with someone else, whether the couple considers it OK or not. These couples wish those other people would mind their own business and stop judging them.
Some couples occasionally go to movies with a third person, sometimes more. Occasionally they'll start going to movies with that third person all the time. This is generally frowned upon, even though no one involved is unhappy with the arrangement.
Occasionally a number of people will see a movie as a group. This is also frowned upon by many others who don't do this, again despite the fact that everyone involved enjoys it. It's not clear why these people are so judgmental about something that doesn't affect them at all. Maybe they're jealous.
Some people enjoy all kinds of movies. Some prefer only comedies, or only action films, or only romances. A few of them will loudly announce how awful people who go to other types of movies are, especially old movies or foreign films, and how they'd never go to any movie with those people. Most others find this rude and annoying, and will avoid going to see movies with people who do this. Sometimes the people who do this grow out of it over time, but many never do.

Discuss. And don't over-analyze the analogy.
