So I'm sat here watching a program (on the net, mind) about "new media" and how people are watching less tv than this time last year. Well, in Norway anyway. It's basically a good example of how the "right-thinking" people (professors, politicians, editors) step up and try to discuss something they know very little about. They've been talking about digital tv for the last ten minutes, one greying old man to another. It's basically as impotent as Tony Blair trying to relate to 14-year-olds. The easy answer to why people watch less tv is that the people who choose programs are the same people who chose them 15 years ago. Lame.
Oh, a woman just commented how "demanding to hear what people say on tv is really important". Duh.
Today I interviewed a roleplaying game designer for a free magazine. I really need to get some Spock ears, as he was actually wearing a Star Trek t-shirt. He was quite a fun guy, mind, and he's blatantly very good at writing adventures for dungeons & dragons and whatever. Never mind that the place was actually littered with chain mail armour and latex swords that've been used for "live-action-roleplaying". It sounded like people acting out stuff from Lord of the Rings.
