How would you feel if you had to fight someone who BROKE A DUDE'S FACE?

So there's a rumor on MMAWeekly that Ivan's (my coach) next fight will be at UFC 71 in May against Terry Martin.

Terry isn't a super famous or amazing fighter, but his last fight literally went like this:

Bell rings
Fighters run at each other
Terry punches other dude in the face
Other dude falls over
Ref stops fight

14 seconds.

Also, Jorge Rivera, his opponent, had to go to the hospital because Terry broke multiple bones in his face with that punch.

Now, Ivan is a lot more cautious and has a lot more experience than Rivera did, so he's not gonna get laid out in 14 seconds. He's also never been knocked unconscious in a fight. But still, it's intimidating. I'm sure Ivan isn't worried though, he's a professional in every sense of the word.

This is a pretty big fight for Ivan. This will be Ivan's first fight in the UFC since they cut his contract for no reason whatsoever after Nate Marquardt tested positive for steroid use at Ultimate Fight Night, throwing his decision win into controversy. This will also be his first fight in almost a year. Ring rust totally killed Heath Herring in his return to the cage. I don't expect Ivan to have that problem, though. He knows how to train. He's also a regular training partner of Tito Ortiz and the rest of Team Punishment. With Tito's latest additions to their stable, he should get some good time in if he goes up to Big Bear before his fight.

Most people who know who Ivan is have tons of respect for him, so his return will be exciting for old school fans (read: people who watched the UFC before The Ultimate Fighter started). He's beat a couple big names and gone to decision with both Marquardt (who is getting a title shot this summer) and Matt Lindland (who is arguably the best middleweight in the world). Most of them feel that he should never have been cut from the UFC and his return will make a lot of people happy. New fans have seen Terry Martin brutally knock out his last opponent (but probably will have forgotten that he got his ass kicked by Jason Lambert and had his head caved in by a James Irvin knee), so if Ivan beats him, they'll be impressed. Hopefully Ivan will get a spot on UFC Unleashed and Spike viewers can check out the slick triangle choke he put on Joe Riggs.

I can't wait to see Ivan back in the cage. He made Art Santore look like a amateur at WFA last year, and Art is no joke. He should be able to take care of Terry with a triangle or a rear naked choke. After that, I'd love to see him take on someone like Jason MacDonald, Yushin Okami, or even Kendall Grove, but eventually lead up to a fight with Rich Franklin. I don't know if Ivan could win that fight, but I'd love to watch it.
