Got a bunch of little things to say, and I don't particularly feel like making a short post for each of them. Last Friday still has my sleep schedule all screwed up. We were waiting on one player to show up for EarthDawn (we were already down one as she went to go see Eddie Izard), but he never arrived, so we didn't start until 8. The players got through pretty much everything that needed to be covered, but at the end of the session they got bogged down in a combat that I didn't anticipate them getting into. They are investigating a corrupt government of a city and trying to get enough evidence built up against them so that the crown can come in and take care of things. They finished meeting with the Barron's son and were ambushed by the guard on their way out. The guards tried to knock them out so they'd be disabled and have to listen to their threat. The players instead avoided their attacks and proceeded to fight back with a vengeance, even though at first the guards weren't hitting them. I was hoping they'd realize that the guards really didn't want to fight, but they were insistent. The good news (from my end of things) is that they all got knocked out, and I finally managed to kill one of them. The bad news is that this has erased his Horror Mark, and just when I was having fun messing with him through it. Anyway, we didn't end up finishing the session until 2am. At least it was a good resolution, and though their characters got beat, I think they were happy with how it went from a story end of things. But the disruption to my sleep pattern is still messing with me; last night I got enough sleep, but it wasn't restful.
The chemical problems at work last week have turned out with a positive consequence. Since it has been revealed for the umpteenth time that I actually know what I'm doing (and further I'm probably the ONLY one that knows what I'm doing), the higher ups are actually starting to listen to me, and are getting me stuff I've been wanting. The back room is getting an organizational overhaul, we're getting rid of a bunch of crap that doesn't need to be back there, I'm getting a back stock of chemicals AND we're finally getting new guard tubes. They're GOOD ones this time too, like the best on the market. They're more expensive, but they come with a 3 year warranty and have a fiberglass mesh over the tube before they vinyl coat it, which makes it more durable. And they're 40 inch ones, rather than the 50 inches we have now (shorter is better when rescuing a submerged victim; much easier to pull it down with you).
I finally washed my car yesterday when I filled up, and though it's already getting dirty again, at least I got the salt off of it. Gas is friggin' expensive still, and it sucks being without money. Hopefully I'll have a little extra scratch on the 15th when I get my check and my roommate finally pays me for groceries. Though I don't know how long I'll have it, as I need to get my ACen badge and order chain mail rings. Yes, I'm finally going to start making stuff again. I simply haven't had time recently, but I'm going to set aside part of my evenings while I'm on the computer to work on it. I've got a couple of projects I want to do, including making a bra for one of my friends. That's a project I've been wanting to tackle for a while, just for the challenge of it. I've also got pieces from that jewelry that my aunt gave me at Christmas that I want to include in stuff, though I still have to figure out what for some of it. I know I'll have at least two necklaces, two watches, a belt, and probably a couple of bracelets.
Anyway, time to make lunch and head out to work. Last week with the high schoolers in all day. Hopefully it won't be too hectic.
