It so happened that the dog seemed to be in possession of tomatoes. Which was good. But on the other hand, he also had a note. Which was almost certainly not good.
Obviously Kakashi had sent it, but why? It couldn't be a bribe. That wasn't Kakashi's style, right?

Of course, Kakashi knows his birthday. Kakashi has always known his birthday. He had access to his records.
Sasuke had forgotten all about it being his birthday. Time had just been moving very strangely, now that he was alone, and dates weren't very important. Not that Sasuke's birthday was even and especially important date, but still, he usually would note it.
Sasuke snatches the note and unfolds it, still watching the dog.]
