Santa Barbara County, CA - What an incredible media feeding frenzy. The picture above just about sums it up. There are some international media people that are saying this is going to be bigger then Princess Diana's funeral.
We are all camped out here at Neverland because one of the local stations reported that Michael Jackson's body would lay in state here. However, whether or not that was originally part of the plan, it is not going to happen. The infrastructure to take the estimated half million that would show up for a public viewing simply does not exist out here.
It sounds like there will be a public memorial of some kind at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. More then likely on Tuesday. Based on what I've witnessed here, it might not be big enough.
The gates to Neverland just before sunrise. Other then the flowers and wreaths it is pretty much the same as it was the last time. The only thing missing is the knuckle dragging gate keeper.
Someone left this small golden harp on the entry key pad.
These started showing up around noon. After a couple hours of sweating, we found out the sheriff intends to leave the satellite trucks and needed support vehicles alone. His intention is to keep the lanes of traffic clear.
One of my brethren contemplates the no parking sign that sprouted in front of his truck.
The pilot of this beautiful peace of flying machinery felt the 500 foot AGL rule was more of a guide line then carved in stone.
The tourists were out in force. They are friendly too.
Parking fail! He got into some soft dirt on a slope. Rather then take a chance on damaging the truck or the fence, he called a tow truck. Every good pilot knows when to call it a missed approach and go around.
The media circus in front of the gates to Neverland.
And an interesting time was had by all.
Everything that I love is behind those gates. We have elephants, and giraffes, and crocodiles, and every kind of tigers and lions.
