See, I think if something works for you, then it works for you. But that still leaves a lot of other issues such as: what are the side-effects of the alternative treatment on her body? We already know what they are for chemo and such.

Also, how does she know that the numbers are declining? She's choosing an alternative medicine doctor but then goes back to "traditional" hospitals and labs to get work done? Doesn't completely jive with me.

In addition, the blog doesn't say what he's exactly doing. For all we know, it could be a (very) large placebo effect somehow.

Well, that's the thing. You might think something is 'working' for you when it's actually doing nothing, and it's just your own confirmation bias. A sample of 1 is never sufficient to draw meaningful conclusions of any kind. Anecdotal accounts do give us the illusion of credible evidence, though, which is why so many fraudulent products (panaceas, pyramid schemes, self-help programs) use testimonials heavily to promote themselves.

Since it's established that the lymphoma is a "waxing and waning" type of cancer, which might actually not kill her anyway, it also creates a special situation in which anything might appear to be working, and anything might appear to have saved her life. Her numbers very well might be improving, but the real MDs already told her that such a thing might happen on its own from time to time.
