i'm questioning the benevolence of humanity

i have a story.
so basically, a security guard walks into mrs. laramay's room holding a kitten. of course she takes it in - she loves animals. what she told us is that somebody had locked the kitten in their locker at school and the security guard heard it meowing and broke the locker open to find it panicking in the locker.

the classroom reaction was, obvoiusly, "its so cute! how adorable! how can anybody be so mean?" the females especially fought tooth and nail over who was to keep the cat, myself included.

now my question is this: we pass homeless people on the street everyday. we pass by people locked up in jails, asylums, or just living on the street because they have no where else to go. how many of us wold take them into our home? would we fight over a homeless person who did nothing to deserve living on the street, losing his family?

if someone can lock up a cute little kitten, it's inevitable that we lock up other beings forunsubstantial reasons.

what i'm not saying is that everybody deserves better than that - i'm sure many of the homeless people are on the street completely out of their own laziness and stupidity. maybe this one got his security number hacked and all his money robbed from him - we all know that there isnt much the bank can do in those situations. but at the same time, maybe he dropped out of high school and started doing herione, never got a job, and is on the street because he never made an attempt to be anywhere else.

we cannot judge by one glance. maybe the kitten was psycho. i'm not saying it deserved to be locked up - i wanted to take it home, too!

but there are just so many circumstances.

now on another note - this is alana powell and i at my first birthday party. doesnt everybody see the look she is giving me? do you see that face, that disgusting face, the distrust of sharing arms with her mother? "what are you doing in MY momma's arms, hooker?" THIS is what i've had to deal with since day 1 of life.

and this is my beautiful godson, Reilke. he's back in italy for christmas but he'll be visiting me in spring.

peace
