Title: Please don't forget me. Chapter 10
Pairing: Akame
Rating: PG-13
Summary: Akanishi Jin and Kamenashi Kazuya are best friends and together, they own the largest company in the country; Akame Corporations. Jin has feelings for Kame, but he never told him, and so Kame thought Jin never liked him and thus married a woman, hoping that this would help him put away his feelings for Jin. A car accident happened when Jin was driving Kame home one night and when Kame awoke from coma, he realised that he had lost his memories. Will the two have a chance to get together? Or will fate pull them further away from each other?
Author's message: I know I made Maki a real bad character in this fic, but I actually like her a lot. I hadn't planned to make her the bad person, but somehow I got a little too caught up with writing Akame and made her a bad person instead. Anyway, enjoy this chapter! :D
When the pillow was only less than an inch away from Jin's face, Maki was suddenly pulled out of the ward by somebody. The grip of his hand was so tight and the force that he exerted to pull her was so great that she almost fell.
"What the fuck are you doing?!" Rei said in a loud whisper.
"I can't let Jin live!" Maki broke down and sobbed. She knelt on the floor and covered her face with her hands, tears flowing rapidly from her eyes.
"For fuck's sake, why?!" Rei was antagonised. Had he not appeared in time, Jin could have been dead.
"Because Kame ... Kame's heart only has Jin now ... He doesn't care about me anymore! He's married with me! Not with Jin! He shouldn't even bother so much about Jin!" Maki pulled her fringe back and wiped off the blackened tears. Her makeup was smudged and the eyeliner dyed the tears black.
"Do you think Kame would come back to you if Jin died?! Have you got any idea how devastated Kame would be? Have you even wondered that Kame may kill himself just because Jin died? Have you ever wondered how much pain it would bring to Kame?! You only think about yourself! And love isn't selfish! If you really love him, you would have been altruistic! You would have thought about him first instead of yourself! Have you ever questioned yourself that?!" Rei started tearing out of exasperation. How can Maki be so stupid!
"I don't know! I don't know! I just don't wanna lose Kame! I don't wanna lose him!" Maki buried her head in her hands and sobbed even harder.
"Maki ..." Came a familar voice.
"Kame!" Maki shot her head up in surprise and looked at him with her eyes wide open.
"I overheard everything." Kame slowly pushed himself out of the ward and closed the door softly.
"I'm so sorry! I'm so sorry! I didn't mean to, Kame!" Maki held onto Kame's hands.
"I won't leave you, Maki. So I beg you, don't do anything to hurt Jin." Kame looked away, his eyes filled with sorrow. He really has to leave Jin now ... It's the right thing to do. He's married with Maki and it's his responsibility to keep this family alive. He can no longer selfishly follow his heart anymore. He is no longer the him ten years ago, when he did everything he wanted and didn't give a damn about everybody. It's different now ... he's grown up.
"Rei ... Keep this from Jin." Kame gave Rei a weak smile.
"Duh." Rei gave Kame a pat on the shoulder.
"Maki ... Why don't you go home and have a rest? You're tired. Rei, drive her home?"
"No, no, it's okay. I can go home on my own. Both of you have some catching up to do." Maki stood up and arranged her hair. "I love you, Kame." She kissed him on the cheek. Kame only reciprocated by smiling back at her.
"So ... Rei, you're finally back?" Kame smiled brightly at his little brother. He really missed him a lot.
"Yep. I actually have two more months in the arts school but I managed to finish everything in a month by slogging my ass off everyday so that I can come back to see you. You have no idea how elated I was when I found out that you woke up from coma!" Rei started pushing Kame out of the hospital to have some fresh night air.
"I'm really glad you're back. When you left for Paris so suddenly one year ago, I was really upset." Kame held Rei's hand. "Stay here for good okay?"
"Yeah, I plan to. I have to take care of you, you know." Rei smiled affectionately at his brother. He missed Kame a lot too.
Kamenashi Rei had went to Paris to study arts right after Kame got married and Kame didn't know about until Rei went on the plane already. He had left a letter behind, stating that he had always wanted to study arts in Paris and that since Kame is already married, he can go over there to study peacefully. They're all excuses, actually. Rei is in love with Maki, even before Kame and Maki knew each other. Maki used to study in the same college as Rei and they were classmates for a couple of years. It was love at first sight, you could say. Rei had never expected that Maki would fall in love with Kame when he brought her over to their house that fateful afternoon. He was heartbrokened, and knew that everything was over. He then decided that he should get away for a year to study so that he'll be able to put Maki behind him. Unfortunately, he hasn't. Even after one year, he's still so deeply in love with Maki.
"Let's go back in. I wanna be the first one he sees when he wakes up." Kame turned his wheelchair around.
"I know you love Jin, but don't forget that you're married with Maki now. It seems that a lot happened after you woke up from coma and your feelings for Jin obviously deepened." Rei starts his love lecture again. "You must really be conscious about Maki's feelings. She loves you a lot, and it'll kill her if you ever think of leaving her for Jin."
"I know! I told her I'll never leave her already right? What more do you want?" Kame was exasperated.
"Okay okay. We'll drop the subject." Rei pushed Kame in to the hospital.
Three days later
Jin slowly pried his eyes open and studied the surroundings. He was trying to take everything in. Why was in the hospital? Why was he lying here? What exactly happened? Then, he remembered feeling a deep sharp pain in his heart when he was outside Kame's ward, and he collapsed, feeling weary, and he also felt like giving up on everything. After that, he doesn't remember anything anymore.
"Jin?" Kame rubbed his eyes and gave a little pout.
"Kame?" Jin had a puzzled look on his face.
"YOU'RE AWAKE!" Kame exclaimed when he realised that Jin was awake. A bright smile was on his face and he felt really relieved as well.
"Was I asleep for really long?" Jin asked.
"Yeah. You slept for three days, and had me worried like mad." Kame pretended to be angry.
"Well, I really DO need the sleep." Jin smiled. "Shit! Then who's taking care of our business?!" He suddenly panicked, realising that both Kame and him were in the hospital. This could mean that many things were left undone.
"Don't worry, Jin. Relax. Yamapi got it all covered. He took over all our work for the week, and suggested that we rest until next week. He is slogging his ass off though." Kame shrugged, but thankful that Yamapi was willing to sacrifice himself for them.
"Oh, okay. That's good ... So this means that we have four more days to rest?" Jin was pleased to know that he can now slow down his pace and have some leisure time.
"Yeah. Anyway, Rei's back. I think he'll be coming over later. And this!" Kame handed Jin the leather notebook. "I've finished quite a number of chapters already. It's your turn to write now."
"We can write it together when we spend our four days of holiday together." Jin smiled cheesily.
"Er, sorry, I can't. I gotta keep Maki company." Kame's voice suddenly went soft, like something was caught in his throat. His heart wrenched. He really wanted to spend the rare holiday that they get with Jin, but he knows that he can't. He cannot let his heart take over his mind anymore. It's time to do the RIGHT thing.
"Oh. Yeah. I'm cool with it, don't worry." Jin looked away. He wasn't cool with it AT ALL. He knew that this day was going to come, but he still let himself sink deeper into the abyss of love. He is one big fool. One big fool for Kame.
"Kame! So you're here!" Maki came into the ward. "Hey Jin! You're awake!"
"Yeah." Jin gave a polite smile. When Kame went over to give Maki a hug, Jin clutched his chest. His eyes were filled with sorrow.
"I'm gonna steal Kame away from you for a lil while, Jin." Maki winked, and walked away with Kame. At the same time, Rei opened the door to the ward, and he had caught the sad expression on Jin's face.
"Hey Jin! You're awake!" Rei raised his hand.
"Hey! Haven't seen you in ages!" Jin and Rei did a guy handshake.
"I saw that look on your face, dude." Rei nudged Jin.
"Huh? What look?"
"That look you always have when you're heartbrokened. The look you always have when you cannot get something you want badly. The look you ..."
"Okay, okay. I get it." Jin interrupted.
Rei felt torn apart seeing that Kame and Jin love each other yet cannot get together. He loves the both of them, but he loves Maki as well. Maki would be heartbrokened if Kame left her, but the thing is, Kame's heart is not even with her; it's with Jin. Their marriage only consists of one-sided love and the one who will eventually get hurt is Maki.
"Urgh, fuck it." Rei cursed unconsciously.
"Huh?" Jin was a little taken aback.
"You know what, Jin. If you really love Kame, just go for him. I bet he feels the same way as you do too. For once, just follow your heart and not your mind. Say what you have keep inside of you for so long."
