Dear 11 year old Rob....hiimrobSeptember 10 2004, 19:33:11 UTC
I know things are rough right now and trust me they'll only get worse. The 6th grade will be a testament to your ability to overcome situations that until now you've only watched others endure. You are alone but is that really such a bad thing? Give that thought as you sit by yourself on those one hour bus rides to E. L. Bing. When mom and dad bring up allergy shots, refuse. They don't want to hurt you but you go into anaphylactic shock and almost die after the fourth or fifth one. Heh, yea they even try them again when you're in high school. Mrs. Clemmins is more a friend to you then you realize. She is worth every hug we gave her (even though you will take some ridicule for hugging your teacher). Oh yea, you CAN and WILL beat Mr. Buda at chess. What he teaches you in that math class will make you one of the best chess players in your middle and high school. Half way through this year Dave is going to move and start attending school with you again. Trust me, he is one of your greatest friends but he will, in the end, do more damage

I know you are only 11 yet you want to be so much older. Patience my friend, it's one of the only virtues you have. I could sit here all day and tell you what decisions not to make and decisions you should have made but then my life would be different. You will make lots of mistakes, unfortunately that is how you learn. Live life to the fullest that you can because you'll never get out of it alive. One day Dad will look at you when your heart has been broken for the um-teenth time and give you the words you will live by for the rest of your life: "There is only one person you are going to spend the rest of your life with, and that is yourself. So, learn to be happy with yourself and one day you will find that one person you can be happy with." Being 21 I look back between you then and me now and I see all the lessons I've learned and good times I've had, so have a blast growing up, it's going to be one hell of a ride
