It was really hard for me to step out of my apartment this afternoon. It was a burning hot day (it was at least 35 degrees Celcius) and the hallways in my apartment building felt so stuffy. Yet, I had to check my mailbox for one last time before I give up for the day, again.
The key goes in, is turned and the steel door to my mailbox swings open in one movement. There's something inside! ... Arrgh, just a letter from my uni. I took it out... Then a flash of dark green caught my eye. It was the delivery pick-up card from Australia Post! I snatched it out with glee and scanned the contents. The box next to "Regular Post/Parcel" was checked, and from that moment on, I couldn't wipe off the wide smile that almost became permanent on my face.
I grabbed my bag, threw the card inside and stepped out into the crazy-hot sunlight. I braved the heat, walked down a couple of blocks to the neighbourhood post office, queued up, handed my card over to the nice balding man behind the counter... And before I knew it, a parcel wrapped neatly in olive green paper was thrusted into my hands. It felt satisfyingly heavy, and when I saw the white sticker with the word "Hong Kong" printed on it... My heart skipped a beat. I left the post office smiling like a little kid who just received a present from Santa. I shook the parcel a little, it felt so good.
... Okay I give up. -________- That was my attempt to relate my story of receiving my NEWS calendar in a very literary, story-like sort of way but... Oh wth! I GOT IT, FINALLY!!! ♥♥♥ I was already getting paranoid that it might be lost in the post or whatever, since zephy in Syd already received hers last week and we only live an hour apart by air! Boy was I relieved when I picked it up at the post office.
Opening it up was the best feeling, and exploring each member's cases was fun. I love the pictures on the flip side of the cards, some are really funny, like Massu's! LOL (Those of you who have seen the scans will get what I mean. =P) I was also happy to find that not all are coasters, those that are supposed to be used as part of the calendar (put on the stand) are actually cardboard. The coasters are separate, they are transparent plastic and there are four of each member, picturing them doing various poses (some look really cool, while some look funny... Shige looks stunned! LMAO) BUT I'll never use any of them as coasters, I can't bear to get them scratched! The poster is also really cool, it's made of especially thicker paper and on the flip side, I think some of you know of the 10Q&A of each member right? (Where can I find the translations? Somebody told me it was translated.) The respective Q&A's are printed on each member's opaque, coloured silhouettes. That is a bonus, but what I found really cool is that if we hold the poster up against light (the flip side with the Q&A facing us) their faces become visible in the coloured silhouettes, sort of in a shadowy, hologram sort of way.
That is really unusual and I was really surprised when I accidentally discovered that. I still haven't found out a way to take a photo of that to show you exactly what I mean about that effect... I think it has to be done with two people, one to hold it up against the light and another to snap the photo. xD I hope you understand from my description though! LOL (This is probably no biggie to some of you, but I'm excited! Hehe)
Okay enough of my words, here are photos of how my calendar looks like on the shelf of my study desk! Doozo~
I was lost at where to keep to the set, so I ended up placing it behind the calendar. The Dokodemo Isshou ni soft toy is there because that is its original spot before NEWS arrived and hogged all the space...
How the calendar looks like with the left side of the shelf...
And the right side of the shelf. LOL My shelf is pretty crowded.
