Thoughts about Etsy

I really need to get some of the silly things I sit around and make (while watching TV) and through them out into the Etsy pond and see what happens.  Since my future is solidifying in the direction I wanted, I also know that this means there may be less time for silly creativness than there has been for the past three years. I've got some necklaces ready and could probably do with thinning the ranks of my puppets. I'm just so stuck with the rod challenge.  The elastic bad removable rods may be the way to go.

ANYWAY...

I saw an article on Etsy about the current Featured Seller, who makes really cute Bath Buddies, towels with hoods decorated to look like cute animals, and she had this to say about her Etsy Business.

What advice would you give to artists who are new to Etsy?

Keep your shop fresh. Add listings frequently to keep your items at the top of potential customers’ searches. And utilize your tags. Don’t be afraid to be specific as well as general. Also, get involved in the Etsy community. Create treasuries. Participate in the Forums. Get to know your fellow Etsians. We can learn a lot from each other.
How do you promote your work?
I have a blog and a Facebook page. Much of my exposure comes from reviews and giveaways with “mommy bloggers.” I send a towel of the blogger’s choice, which in turn she reviews. Then one of her readers enters to win a free Buddy of choice. I have a list of interested bloggers and when things get slow, I contact the next in line in order to boost my business. And it works. I also contacted a local magazine about doing a feature, which happily agreed to run pictures and an interview. I was ecstatic with how it turned out.

There was a whole bunch more in the article, but that's what stuck out as important for me in my current state.

The Article

And honestly I really want this one.

It's ridiculously cute, and not even shown on an adorable child...
