To all who have been reading my email for the last two days whether you usually do so or not:
Thank you. Thank you very much. You should all give yourselves a pat on the back and take a deep sigh of relief and contentment. ( I think thats a word . . .)
We got a call late Monday morning that not only did they have a new family for her to live with they would be moving her the same day! They called us from the packed car to say they were on thier way and got her out safely. Vy seemed so happy and so relieved. She is moving in with a student from her class, and into (her words not mine) "a real house, not a pretend one." They had lived in a trailer home and they don't have those in Vietnam . . .they should though. Hmmm interesting buisness idea . . .anyway . . .
I called the Placer to thank her for moving Vy so quickly. She got all huffy and said she really had been looking for a very long time , not just since I started calling her and emailing her. A)I very convincingly told her we knew that and we were just grateful to have someone close by and on her side. B)Ok Peden. She didn't get off her ass until I sent her all of your suggestions and all the information you guys have provided! Its just a coincidence that two days, three calls and one email later she is moved when you couldn't find a new place after looking since August! Buh buh buh.
Vy said her former host mother cried when she and the mexiacn exchange student left. Kept asking if she couldn't keep just one of them. I told Vy that meant they really did care for her even if they didn't show it well and she should be pleased that they could leave on good terms. Vy said no, that wasn't the reason. They wanted to know who wuld give the injured daughter her bathes. Apparently Vy was very literally doing everything. No exaggeration.
I can not tell you how thrilled we are to announce she is safe and sound, whole and well, happy and healthy in her new home. And Vang will be landing in Vietnam in one week to tell her parents the good news in person!
But don't think for one second we aren't going to inflict a visit on this family as well.
We just want them to know we live here.
And we're watching.
