The trombones, Piccolos, Drumline and Colorguard left Omaha at 10:30 this morning. After a lengthy layover at Chicago Midway, our plane arrive in Baltimore at about 5:30 (4:30 Central). It probably took another hour to get our baggage and board the bus to DC. We then had dinner and arrived at the hotel at 9:30. Sadly, the weather was nicer in Omaha than it is here. There were snowplows in Baltimore when we flew in. I am hoping that it will improve by tomorrow.
This is Joe Jelinek adding on. I just wanted to say how really frustrating things were today. We boarded at Midway and not five minutes later, the captain let us know that we were going to be delayed for about another hour due to snow falling in Baltimore. Apparently, that had all the traffic backed up and we needed to sit there to help alleviate some of the backup. We finally got to Baltimore only to see snow plows below us clearing off the runways. After that, we walked what seemed halfway across the airport to get to baggage claim, only to wait about another hour for our baggage to come out. So, tired, frustrated, and starving at this point, the luggage delay was the icing on the cake. We finally got back to the hotel after dinner and it couldn't have been a moment too soon. I don't think I could have taken another moment on a plane or bus today. However, I go to bed tonight very much looking forward to tomorrow and performing for the President.
