[Van had pretty much promptly forgot he had the stupid Dreamberry-phone-thing once Hitomi showed up--he hadn't worried about it since. They lived together, and she was really the only person he knew or cared to keep track of, so what was his use for it?
...but when Hitomi wouldn't wake up for that school thing she insisted on dragging him to, Van begun to worry.
A day or two later, he was frantic. She was still breathing, but that was small comfort because she still wouldn't wake up, not even in the slightest.
Looks like someone was never told about sleep comas.
