It's been a week since Ryo moved with his neighbors. And he can't say that it was his best week. He has been avoiding Ryo most of time, as pathetic as it sounds. But with his luck, he hasn't even met him accidentally. And always, when Shige wondered why, he stopped himself to do so.

Shige was late from his job - once again. He was sure that he hasn’t many excuses left. Either he will lose his job today or sometime soon. He took a deep breath before he stepped inside his office building.

Shige never liked to be the center of attention. But the moment he got inside, his boss, Sakurai-san and his two colleagues' eyes were immediately on him. “Sorry, I'm late,” he said and walked over to his desk.

Shige could feel Sakurai-san's eyes on his back. He heard Sakurai to get up and moving. "Kato-kun. Come to my office, now.”

Now, this is my end. Shige thought before he sighed as he got up again and turned to walk towards Sakurai's office. His colleagues were looking at him, a bit worried. Shige wondered if it was because they knew what was going to happen next or why.

Shige closed the door behind him, though it didn't matter actually. In a normal workplace, this was normal, but not here. Here, everyone shares everything. But Sakurai didn't seem to mind that right now. Or more like, Shige wasn't sure what was going inside his boss's mind at the moment. His face was devoid of any emotion. Was that a good sign... or bad?

“Sit now,” Sakurai ordered and Shige obeyed without a hesitation. They shared a little silence between them and Shige was sure that his heart would explode soon if his boss won't say whatever he wanted to say soon.

Sakurai-san relaxed a bit and Shige could finally see emotions on his face after he closed the door. “Is everything okay, Kato-kun?”

“Eh?”

“Kato-kun. You know, you have been here for over a year now. You haven't been late even once at that time,” Sakurai continued calmly. “Before this week. That's why I wondered if everything is okay.”

Shige blushed a bit. If his boss wasn’t Sakurai, his sempai since high school, he would have gotten fired already, a couple of days ago. “Well, things have happened,” Shige said. Even though Sakurai has been his sempai for such a long time, the words 'new neighbor' would be a ridiculous reason from him. Even his previous neighbor hasn't made him late even once, though he has been a pain in the ass for a long time.

Sakurai seemed to sense some tension from Shige and wondered if these 'things' have something to do with Shige's ex-neighbor, which caused some problem, even to Shige's boss. But Sakurai decided not to bring that subject up this time.

“Kato-kun,” Sakurai was as calm as always, “I don't want to force you to talk about your problems with me. But you know that you can talk anything with me.” Sakurai might be Shige's sempai, but he didn't want Shige to be afraid to talk about his worries with him.

“Shige,” Sakurai called him by his first name, for the first time and it made Shige look at him with wide eyes. “I think its better that you take a little break from work for now.”

“But...”

“I hope that you understand that I have enough proof to fire you,” Sakurai said to stop Shige from making any excuses and being successful with it. “I know that you're not stupid and I don't want to lose someone like you. Please, take your break and make sure you come back to your normal self before returning to work, okay?”

Shige nodded. He didn't want to make his boss upset more than this. So, he got up and bowed at Sakurai, before he turned to leave. The whole office's attention was on him and he didn't like it at all, but he tried not to show it.

**

Shige missed his job. He really did. But then, he realized that he quite needed it. He needed time without deadlines, just lying around and maybe taking pictures around town if sitting inside was too much.

Even though he has been 'on his break,' he still hasn't actually met the reason why he was in this situation. Also, he had been too busy with his work to have any kind of social life outside of it, which made it worse. There was always an excuse to avoid the not-so-wanted neighbor. Or maybe he was wanted - Shige just didn't want to admit it.

Shige had spent couple nights at Koyama's place. It was quite refreshing experience, since Koyama got engaged and Shige started to work his ass off. It was interesting, how easily Koyama's fiancée takes the fact that Shige and Koyama are more like a couple than Koyama was with her. But Shige guessed that she could see the point in that. Whatever.

Shige spent the last couple of nights, totally forgetting everything and it felt so damn good after all what has happened to him like, in the past few years. He forgot them so well that he remembered them again, when he saw his building again. It was like a reminder -- 'Shige you have still problem.'

Shige sighed and started to move again. Except, after a few steps he was suddenly stopped by someone grabbing his arm. Confused, Shige looked behind and a second later, he was already pulled away. “What are you doing here?”

”Guess twice,” the stranger said, obviously enjoying Shige's despair.

“You can't be here,” Shige said, trying to stay calm, while his heart was beating so hard against his chest. The stranger was just smirking. “And how are you exactly going to stop me to be here?” he asked as he walked towards Shige.

Shige was taking a step backward as the person, who was still haunting him in his dreams, was coming towards him as a real person. He tried to remind himself not to panic and to think how he could get out without needing to do anything stupid, though his heart was beating so hard in his ears and his panic was rising. Before he could think of anything else, he turned and started to run.

He could hear that the other male was shouting him to stop, but Shige's feet were refusing to stop.

He tried not to let his tears fall as he ran as his feet moved him. As soon as he turned in the corner, he bumped into another person.

Ryo looked at the person, who bumped him and was about to snap, until he recognized him. ”Shige, are you alright?” he asked, when he saw Shige looking like he was afraid of something.

Shige didn't exactly know how to react. Should he be relieved to see Ryo or what? But then again, Ryo was better than him.

Ryo got worried as Shige didn't answer anything, until the other figure came from the corner. ”So here you ran from me,” the other said in a voice which made Ryo to want to throw up. It was enough to make him furious. And when he noticed Shige was trembling, didn't exactly help the situation.

Ryo got up and wondered if he actually can make himself clear without getting himself in trouble. Shige grabbed his hand before he managed to do anything, though.

“Don't do anything stupid.” It was more like a whisper, but Ryo still managed to hear. He doesn't remember seeing the younger one in a bad condition as he saw him right now, and it helped him to control his anger a bit.

When Ryo finally got up, he walked slowly towards the man. ”I recommend you to leave like now, or you will regret it.”

“Oh, really?” Great, the man is doubting him.

“Well, I hope that you won't be stupid enough to find out,” Ryo answered with his best badass-face. This man shouldn't underestimate him, even though he was lacking in the height department, compared with the other.

It seemed that the stranger took him seriously, since he nodded and started to walk away. Ryo waited until the male was out of his sight, before he sighed and went to back to Shige.

”Let's go home,” Ryo said, as Shige nodded and got up.

**

Ryo has been worried about Shige since they started walking towards their homes. As soon as they reached their place, Ryo said, ”I think that it's better that you stay at my place.”

When Shige shook his head, Ryo realized that he just said something unthinkable. ”Well, let me go and stay with you then,” he said quickly and before Shige could refuse him, he added. ”You don't want to be alone right now, right?”

Shige surely didn't want to be alone. But he didn't want to be alone with Ryo either. But Shige figured that if he needed to choose between the two devils, he’d definitely choose Ryo. So, he begrudgingly unlocked his door and kept it open to see if Ryo gets the point.

Ryo hesitated a bit when Shige unlocked the door and didn't say anything, so he moved slowly towards the door, noticing that Shige didn't shut the door straight to his face. He sighed, relieved.

Ryo looked around. Shige's apartment was pretty tidy, but also pretty simple. But then again, Shige

hasn't been ever into doing his room to look anything special, Ryo doesn't find it amusing.

Shige sat on the couch and Ryo kept looking around, both of them were feeling kind of awkward. Either of them didn't know what to say or do.

“Was that him?” Ryo broke the silence after couple of minutes and Shige just nodded. Ryo didn't dare to ask more, since Shige probably won’t give him any answer and he'd just make the situation worse. So, he just went to kitchen to have something to drink.

Shige couldn’t get himself to calm down, not when he knew that Ryo was looking at his fridge at the moment. Shige was breathing deep, but it wasn't helping much. Shige jumped a bit, when he felt something cold against his cheek.

Ryo laughed a bit to Shige's reaction. ”Calm down,” he says, nicely. ”And drink this, you seem to need that.” Shige nodded and took the glass from Ryo. He tried to calm down as Ryo sat next to him, but he failed quite much.

Ryo was a bit hurt inside of Shige's reaction towards him, but he didn't want to show, so Shige won't feel more horrible. “Do you want me to call the others?” he asked, but Shige shook his head. Ryo nodded, though Shige couldn't see it. He probably should give a call to Yamapi later, but right now, Shige seemed to want to be more on his own.

”You can pretend that I don't exist, if it helps you at all,” Ryo said, even though for real, he wanted just to hug the other and made him forget the whole world around them. ”I'm going to make some food.”

Shige blinked the other. Ryo's behavior was confusing him. Why was Ryo being so nice to him? He wasn’t that nice when they were small. Or was he? But Shige couldn't remember that.
