In the description for JADUSABLE.WMV, Jadusable's roommate talks about how he was left with specific instructions for what to do with the information on his flash drive. Truth.txt mentions how sorry he was that he got a single dorm in college because having another person around could have stopped him from becoming so obsessed with the game.
Truth.txt talks about how Ben would edit his videos and posts before they would go up on the web. Ben can apparently "spread" through the internet and filesharing methods. We are warned not to download any of the videos posted anywhere. Text documents should be safe. However, various instances of the word "believe" throughout the file are spelled with capitalizations in the word that highlight the word "LIE."
We are also told to completely disregard anything posted to the YouTube channel after September 12, the date at which Jadusable "quit" the internet. Ben can manipulate his computer and has access to his password and information. Anything after that date is an attempt to break free.
Needless to say, free.wmv and the download link to Truth.txt were posted three days past that date.
By becoming involved, by wanting to know the truth, by downloading Truth.txt and reading it, we freed Ben. We helped him spread. The creepypasta used our curiosity and assumed audience passivity and turned it around on us for one final sting
OHHHhhhkay, I knew it was something about Ben spreading via computer but was a little fuzzy on the details.
I was actually wondering how the game shows what actually happened to Ben IRL (so to speak), beyond the fact that he drowned, but maybe it doesn't bother with actually expanding on that and you're just supposed to guess?
I'm pretty sure the details behind what happened to the real Ben are left ambiguous. Whatever we imagine is worse than whatever the writer could come up with.
I didn't think the supernatural elements of the story were that great (computer hauntings? really?) but the videos were so incredibly well-done and the set-up for that final sting was great. Oh dear god, I still can't get over how in DDROWNED the statue gets closer -- not when it's out of Link's sight, but when it gets out of the player's sight. a;sdfjas; fuck that shit huadsadf.
Haha, I've been waiting for an excuse to use this icon. :D :D :D

That said holy hell that is so creepy and I am so glad I was not reading that on my laptop.
Also, the fact that you have a Slender Man icon - not to mention the icon itself - terrifies me. 8D;;;
