Time to Rake a Little Muck From WIRED
I would have a LOT more respect for the media if it lived up to these standards, or even came close. I agree that the corporate conglomerates who own the distribution networks and censor what news is allowed to be disbursed should be broken up, but the biggest thing I see missing is talent. Like he says, it's not so much about objectivity as it is about being accurate. But I believe that news should be mostly objective, to prevent opinions from reporters being turned into the opinions of the U.S. Citisheep. Journalism isn't about spreading opinions, it's about delivering news. There's things barring the media from the standards it should be living up to; remove those obstacles like the corporate control and hire reporters who give a shit about their job and not just being on TV.
The Bush Administration wouldn't be sitting as pretty as they appear to be now if the kind of journalism that existed back in the 40s and 50s existed today.
