It's official! Next year I'll be in...

New Orleans!

I got a call from the Orleans Public Defender's office offering me a job,
and I accepted!

Actually, I got a *message* from the trial chief, Steve Singer, while my
phone was lost. He didn't tell me I had an offer in the message, and I
almost had a heart attack waiting for him to call me back!

This job was my first choice. It is such an amazing radical office. The
lawyers are really on the front lines of ensuring justice for people
accused of crimes. Check out these articles on the office:

Also check out Brian Privor's blog - he's a temporary PD down there.

I start on August 1 with a three-week training session somewhere in the
"deep south" (P.S. - what am I going to do with my dog???), and then I
start defending people after labor day.

I'm really excited about this! You're all welcome to visit me down there
any time you want. Seriously - Jazz Festival, Mardi Gras, football stuff
I don't know about - whenever you want.

Hugs,

Ariel

P.S. For those of you who haven't seen pictures of the dog I just
mentioned, she's up on my flickr site:
