Long time no update
Lots of big news since November:
I went on public defender interviews. They were weird.
I went to Guatemala for a second time, this time with Shaheen.
Shaheen and I got back together under many Guatemalan fireworks, and then promptly helped to flood a roof with one.
I adopted a beautiful puppy named Xela. Pics here:

I got a job with the Florida public defender for Palm Beach County. I have until February 23rd to say whether I'm going to take it or not. I will not have heard back from the two other offices I might take over this one by that time. This office has some good aspects - I can be a trial lawyer after a few months, there's lots of death penalty work, and I really liked the people in the office. But the salary is standard PD salary, while the cost of living is pretty high. I'm going to have to talk it over with the career counselor here.
Anyway, everybody should look forward to meeting Xela soon - she's very friendly and smart. She'll be a wonderful dog once she calms down a little. Right now she cries every time Shaheen or I leave the room. Loudly. Like she's being tortured. It's bad. But it's only been a day and a half, so I'm not too worried.
