An extended lunch break.

I slept in a little this morning, so I didn't have a chance to post any morning thoughts. We had a meeting before the store opened, so I get to do my first 10-hour shift at my new job. Yay me! Actually, it's not that bad. The store tends to be slow on Sundays - especially with it being gorgeous outside and everyone is no doubt on their way to Laguna Seca. Plus, Tina and I are each taking a 1-hour break for lunch, instead of the usual 30 minutes. The new system is up and running on the registers, but there seems to be a lot of glitches. Since I had the last two days off, I get to just play cashier today and learn the basic register stuff. So, a bit of a long day, but it should be an easy one. Oh, and at the meeting we got LOADS of free stuff from the manager meeting Lorraine attended. I got two HUGE bags stuffed full of stuff, and I could've taken more, but at some point, one can have too much free stuff.

Admittedly, there was a teeny part of me that thought it was fitting that the "dragon lady" (the woman at the store who seems to give everyone a hard time) said she would be unable to make the meeting that was supposed to be mandatory. Her punishment? She gets the leftovers of the free samples after we've all picked through them. Now, we weren't horribly selfish about it. Whenever one of us came across something that we knew she used or a company she liked, we made sure to set it aside for her.

My favorite item that I got?.......A giant "stress ball" in the shape of a tomato. I think it's hilarious and I have it sitting on my desk, now, and it makes me smile. I also got some different multi-vitamins and a bunch of different chap sticks and shampoos and lotions from one of my favorite companies: Avalon Organics. And hey, any day that begins with someone handing you giant bags and saying "Fill'er up!" is bound to turn out well, right?
