At least as cold as you are.

For a second I was going to call Missy to remind her to meet me early today for the Chuck Close thing at MOMA, but then I realized what time it was. Uhhh fuck. Why did I wake up at 5 in the morning? Reminder: call both her and perhaps Toy at or before 9am. I should have done this all yesterday, but I was mostly sleeping.

My New Years Eve was spent schlubbing at home with a bunch of high schoolers, watching Arrested Development DVDs and drinking apple cider. Kalinda's friends are considerably smarter and more interesting than I ever was in high school. I don't know how to feel about that.

My New Years resolution is, as always, to eat healthier and try to exercise at least a little. Well, except for last year, when I think I forgot to make any attempt at a resolution. It is off to a great start as I just ate three chocolate truffles. There are piles (no, heaps) of Choxie and other candy in the house. I think my mother is trying to slowly poison me with junk food. She doesn't care about my utter lack of will power or that her cholesterol is 32425235 (I did say, "I told you so," when I found out).

She is going to China this weekend though, so I'll be rid of her for at least a week.

Amended resolution: figure out a plan for getting out of the house so my entries aren't just all bitching about my mother. I need a new life!

Amendment #2: wear heels more often.

Amendment #3: but not so often that it'll wreck my knees (fat chance).

Amendment #4: oh, learn to walk in heels.

Amendment #5: get a haircut.

Amendment #6: don't forget that I own makeup.

Amendment #7: don't forget to wash off said makeup.

Amendment #8: finally properly move into / clean room to find said heels, makeup and all the clothing I never wear because I can't see it at the bottoms of messy piles and thus forget I even have it.

Amendment #9: basically, don't forget that I enjoy being a girl, even if all my idols are boys.

Amendment #10: READ MORE! Oh, god, stop being an illiterate TV monkey.

Amendment #11: get a (new) library card.

Amendment #12: don't let them know about or cut up my library card from the 1st grade.

Amendment #13: try to remember to follow through.

Amendment #14: write down band names and other brilliant ideas so I don't forget.

Amendment #15: SAVE ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT!

Amendment #16: ...oh yeah, learn to drive?

How many people can I drag with me to Match Point? Woody Allen! Scarlett Johansson! Jonathan Rhys-Meyers! Come ON!

this is not the time to wonder why
just let the heart and mind
be still for just some time
this is the time for the rest
just let it go
you know it's for the best

if you're fragile
and you're delicate
take my hand
but be gentle with me please
let the river flow
washing over me
for a while
but be gentle with me please

this is not the time to compromise
if you're feeling it too
then you've realized
this is the time for a change
yes you know it's true
deep down within you

I remember listening to this song a lot in the beginning of last year. I am paranoid that they play it whenever I miss a local Aqualung show, like I'm missing them open for David Gray in Oakland. Damn you, Hales (the both of yous).
