Blue Beetle
all maps lead to el paso by
Traincat“And the thing is, everybody should get to beat up evil robots,” Kon said. “So - want to go beat up evil robots?”
Paco grinned.
“Just let me go get my stick,” he said. OMG THE AWESOME BRO-VENTURES OF PACO & KON! This is hilarious and heartwarming and it put the hugest smile on my face and I recommend you read it right the fuck now. I draw a million sparkly hearts around it. ♥♥♥♥♥♥
An Afternoon in El Paso by
kalirushJaime needed more information. I mean, yeah, there were all these fish people here, and he was totally capable of punching them. But that was the Guy Gardner way of dealing with a situation. Jaime preferred the Ted Kord way of dealing with his problems. Why were there fish people in El Paso? Where did they come from? What did they want? And let’s start with, what exactly were they? Fish people are invading! Jaime and Khaji-Da to the rescue! This is just like reading the comics. So awesome! ♥
Blue Beetle/Batman Beyond
Blue Monday by
irrelevantThis crossover takes Jaime's story with the Reach and puts it into the future during Terry's time as Batman (and Matt's Robin yay!). Highly enjoyable. Very cool!
Batman Beyond
Who We Trust by
be_themoonTerry has to find a doctor he can trust with his secret identity (and apparently wearing a mask under his mask is frowned upon. Hee!). I really like how this played out and how the author brought Melanie back into Terry's orbit.
Blue Beetle/Batgirl
The Requisite Teamup Between Two Plucky Teenaged Superheroes by Stephanie Brown (age 19) by
NightsMistressHee! Jaime tracks some missing kids to Gotham and asks Steph for help. Quippy teenage superheroing ensues. This is adorable.
Batgirl
Dear Cass: the Batgirl letters by
thankyouturtleDid I ever tell you I used to pretend that you were standing next to me, encouraging me, when I wasn’t sure if I could do something? Probably not, that shit’s embarrassing. Any way, I just changed my mind. Dressing up in your Batgirl costume is a great plan. Cos it really is like you’re there with me, telling me I can do it. Oh, my heart. Steph writes letters (that she doesn't send) to Cass while Cass is in Hong Kong. So lovely and true to their friendship. It made me all sniffly.
It's a family thing, not a Bat thing. Really. by
silveronthetree"Why are you so familiar with the hospital? It wasn't when I was there with the Black Mercy thing, was it? I thought I saw you, but I assumed I'd been imagining it."
Damian very pointedly doesn't say anything. But he doesn't disagree either and is looking everywhere else but at Steph.
"You really like me!" she crows.
Damian apparently has to respond to that. "-Tt- I was simply ensuring that you didn't give away any of my Father's secrets away when you awoke."
"Riiiiiiiight, that doesn't even make sense," Steph says. "You like me. Admit it."
Damian glares at her again.
They walk past a few more houses and Steph can't suppress her grin. Steph's mom asks her to do a background check on a possible suitor, and Steph ends up involving Damian. This is adorable, with a great Steph voice and a surprising amount of "Oh, Damian."
Gotham Central
Midnight Calls by
MedieAn AWESOME alternate ending for Gotham Central. Oh man, I WISH this had happened instead. <3
Batwoman
Dry Bones by
MedieThis does a really nice job fleshing out Maggie Sawyer. Not having read much Superman, it didn't occur to me to think about her relationship with him, and how it mirrors/parallels Batman's with Commissioner Gordon, but this story handles it really well and makes me want to know more (and also to be a fly on the wall when he discusses her with Batman, or discovers she's dating Batwoman).
Birds of Prey
Flew the Coop by
AmilynWith Dinah and Helena unavailable and Dick in Gotham, Babs goes out in the field to snare some drug dealers in Bludhaven. Things do not go quite according to plan, but she's still a bamf. With hilarious running commentary from Helena, and a nice cameo from Amy Rohrbach.
Young Justice (comics)
On Target by
runespoorReally wonderful look at Cissie, growing up and choosing her way, with a great cameo by the Lane-Kents.
