008. Bleach ch411: Deicide 13

If you have not read chapter 411 yet, go do that now.

AWESOME chapter. Two surprises in this chapter. First: Last week fans were speculating (wildly) that maybe it would be Don Kanonji who would come to Tatsuki's rescue and this week - oh my god, I died laughing - the joke was turned into reality.

DON KANONJI ATTACKED AIZEN. Excuse me as I laugh until I cry. I did not expect this AT ALL. Don Kanonji was the last person I expected to be the owner of the overshadowed legs in the last panel of chapter 410. He managed to sneak in another line about heroes, called Aizen an "uneducated boy" (quite epically) for not knowing who he was, and asked Tatsuki whether she was "a devil or a guuuuurl?" Don Kanonji is still as ugly and flamboyant as ever, but I appreciate the comic relief. Tatsuki's and Gin's reaction to Don Kanonji's entrance is PRICELESS. Would you believe it, humor is back in Bleach!

And just as Aizen was about to strike the ridiculously hilarious Don Kanonji down, the other surprise arrives: Matsumoto Rangiku!

So we might finally see some GinRan confrontation here. Matsumoto was a bit reckless, following Gin and Aizen into Soul Society when she's still pretty injured. But I'm still glad to see that she's back because I've missed her character. She's a strong woman; I am interested in seeing how she will deal with Gin and his betrayal. What words will she have for him? Will she have the will to strike him down, or will she let him go? I believe that Matsumoto has the type of inner strength to put her past history with Gin temporarily aside to fight him. What are her intentions, though? She can't really expect to succeed against Aizen. I hope she isn't going to die... Although, one vice-captain against two captains (including Aizen)... The odds are not in Matsumoto's favor. (She can't die! Not without her captain by her side. /hitsumatsu plug.)

Ichigo vs Hichigo/Ichithing/Tensa Zangetsu. Another reason I love this chapter: perhaps we can finally put to rest the tired arguments of IchiHime shippers that Ichigo transformed into Ichithing in order to save the love of his life, Orihime. No, no, NO. Ichigo transformed into Ichithing because Hichigo sensed that Ichigo was dying. He had told Ichigo many times before that if Ichigo wanted to keep his hollow side at bay, then he better not die and lose control. That's exactly what happened when Ichigo fought Ulquiorra. He lost control; he was close to dying. Ichithing appeared because Hichigo assumed control over him because he was close to death, NOT because Ichigo heard Orihime's pleas for rescue and decided he MUST save Orihime because he loved her oh so much. Ichigo didn't give his humanity to Orihime on a silver platter; he gave it to Hichigo.

(Now can we stop with the "Ichithing is proof of Ichigo's love for Orihime" argument. :/ )

Interesting insight by Tensa Zangetsu:
You [Ichigo] feared transforming into [Ichithing], where your heart is overwhlemed by your own destructive power and [so] you cannot even hollowfy properly.

So Ichithing is merely improper or incomplete hollowfication? Seemed more serious than that.

What would have made this chapter absolutely perfect is if Kubo Tite had given the chapter a real name. No more of this Deicide ## stuff, please!
