Ouch. Is it twisted that I really like this? Probably! Backstory always rocks when it comes to the life of Ryan.

This is a sad, but very real glimpse into his frame of mind. The poor kid really is trapped in a constant survival mode. The faces of Dawn's finest may change, but that nauseating smell must stay the same- and that's only the beginning.

Very raw and creative approach, and nicely done.

haha. I kind of figured you would. Backstory with Ryan is so limitless since we didn't get barely any in canon.

thanks for reading.

Yeah, I'm predictable and an easy kidnapping target.

In canon, we started out with backstory layered into the current story, since what was playing out obviously hadn't started "yesterday," but was cumulative and were neon signs of established patterns judging by the behavior, subsequent reactions (or lack there of), and attitudes. Making deductions based on that intro would seem pretty straightforward. It's too bad TPTB chose to forget about all of it so conveniently. Credit Ben with sneaking in as much as he could into Ryan's character, even if that was reduced to mannerisms and body language at times. Even when the Atwoods or some delegate from Chino reared their nasty heads, backstory was a non-issue. Frustration off the charts!

I was looking forward to backstory with these drabbles, so thanks for a standout in the slew of post-finales.

Kind of. ;)

Ben did such a great job with this role. He's very subtle in a way that makes it look like he's not even trying. (have you seen Southland, btw?) He just grasps characters and understands them.

I do enjoy the post finale drabbles. Of course, they are limitless since the show ended where it did. :) But throwbacks are fun too.
