[The feed starts as Alexis smiles; it's genuine but there's an element of uncertainty behind it. Her voice is strong, though, and she's looking straight into the camera.]

Hey, everyone. I know we had some strange going on lately. [She trails off with a shrug and her voice loses some of that certainty.] A lot strange. Uhm. A lot really bad, I guess

[She wants to help Alexis' of course, but she's really in it for the cookies.]

[Kate grabs her coat and turns off the feed and heads on over. :3]

[Guess who's waiting for you? The door's unlocked and Alexis is just putting the finishing touches on a few things -- and cleaning up the explosion of baking tools in the kitchen.]

[Kate knocks before she realizes the door is unlocked. Hesitating for a moment, she weighs how weird it would be to just walk in the door, and finally settles for just cracking it open a little bit and peeking her head in.]

Alexis? Castle?

[Alexis looks up from her cleaning efforts and waves Kate inside.] Just me right now. Come on in.

[Kate comes in, albeit a bit reluctantly. She takes a quick look around, remembering her first time in Castle's apartment all those years ago, and how she couldn't wrap her mind around the size of it.

She makes her way into the kitchen, offering Alexis a warm smile.]

Where's your dad?

[redheaded_rock]

[She shrugs.] He's around close-by, I'm sure. [He hovers.] Either that or exploring the Market.

I don't think I want to know what trouble he'll find to get into.

[She's concerned, really. She's just able to be concerned while admiring those really delicious looking cookies.]

Did you say you have coffee?

[redheaded_rock]

[She gestures to the tablet.] I'm keeping an eye open. [Because he definitely could fall into trouble at the drop of a hat. She nods toward the counter, where a fresh pot of coffee sat waiting.] Right there.

[Next to cookies, coffee is a priority right now. Kate helps herself, admiring Alexis' baking as she does.]

Alexis, this is... great. It's really thoughtful.

[She shrugs.] I needed something to do, so I figured why not?

Same here, that's why I'm thinking of joining the guard. I don't think your dad would be a fan of that, but I bet the Clinic could use a volunteer. [She smiles.] It'll give you something to do until I find you a way out of here.

I'm going to speak to Christine at the clinic in the morning. Dad would love if it just stayed in the apartment, but I can't do that. I'd go crazy.
