It had been too long since Misaki had slept all the way through the night and she could not even blame Underworld events for it. Not directly at least. Her mind felt like it was constantly working; refusing to stop connecting thoughts and it was tiring. Her research was finished and she was on the last stage of her work: Double-checking and deciding what people needed to know. It was that which had her out in the Forest during the early morning hours.
Her nose wrinkled in disgust as she tried to breathe in and rid herself of the most recent addition to her senses. She had to verify everything was still in its proper place after the Mist had rolled out, no unpleasant surprises like the uncovering of the Labyrinth in the past. She had heard stories of all the rivers and had crossed many of their paths before. It was the river of burning blood which made her sick to her stomach. She was sure she had spent a good hour clutching her stomach, gagging since there was no food to let resurface. Food. That was another thing she continued to forget between her research and her work at Strife Delivery. So she was tired and sick as she stumbled near the edge of the forest, taking another deep breathe. Anything to get rid of that smell.
The only thing of comfort in her mind was that there were many in the Underworld currently dealing with worse issues. She settled onto the ground, resting on a rock and withdrawing her tablet to type up further notes. When she heard somebody nearby she removed her pistol from its holster, keeping the weapon in her hand but not pointing it as she called out, “Who is there?”
