In the two days since his conversation with Dean, Sephiroth had traveled a good many places, searching for the errant Angel. Signs around the city, however, were devoid of any useful information. There were no signs of struggles throughout the city, no others who were effected by this strange disappearances.

His only deduction was Castiel had Left; like Cloud, like Aerith. He was unaffected by the latter, and ambivalent to Cloud's departure, but the thought of Castiel leaving saddened him more than he'd care to admit.

He looked up when the angel appeared. And blinked. And raised an eyebrow. "So, you are still here." Somehow that was unacceptable. "And yet you disappeared without notice. Tell me you've returned from a visit home."

At least it wasn't yelling. (Or throwing things; Castiel had thought that might come from some corners.) He didn't move from the spot as he looked Sephiroth over. He seemed calm enough, not practically reverberating with anger. Yet. Castiel hadn't told him where he'd gone yet, either.

"I did not," he said, meeting Sephiroth's gaze evenly. "I went back to the cave."

"Alone. With no word." There was no anger in his voice, seething or otherwise. What was present, instead, was a deep, thrumming, disappointment, and perhaps a very small note of sadness.

"You notified no one of your departure. What if they'd taken you again? And who was to watch over your charges in your absence?"

Somehow, anger was easier to deal with. Castiel could hardly go on the defensive when he was met with disappointment instead of rage. "Alone," he confirmed, though it hardly needed said.

"I did not think of such consequences." Which was the truth; all Castiel had been able to think of was going back to the cave and finding answers. Failing answers, he'd hoped for some semblance of peace. Perhaps he truly hadn't been thinking clearly when he'd left.
