And man, am I fragged. :p
Lots of late nights/early mornings, craziness of getting set up, and the typical flurry of con prep beforehand. I'm very glad I have 2 weeks to recover before Anime Boston!
So, as far as the con itself...
Sales were slow, although they were slow across the board, so I think the economy and tax season had something to do with that. I will say Sunday after the Art Show closed I had more business than the previous 2 days combined. I think it was equal parts different/more open table setup, and that people who were outbid on art suddenly had money to burn. I did sell a few pieces in the show, which was nice. The bigger surprise though, came when Clint checked to see if we could pack up our unsold items and came to me saying that I had a present waiting when we got to the art show room. I finished at my dealer's table, packed up, and headed to the art show room. There hanging on my panel I was absolutely floored to see t
his ! My very first con ribbon, which shocked the hell out of me. I'm used to seeing those attached to more traditional, 2-D art. I was tickled, and it made me smile after a crummy/slow start to the weekend.
From there, it was packing up the car, heading back to CT, and relaxing at dinner out with friends. We got home and cut in to the epic chocolate cake Fox and Charlene brought with them as an early birthday gift to me, and fun and superior quality sugar was enjoyed by all in attendance. Clint and I tackled the mountain of laundry after everyone left and collapsed to bed. This weekend I think we're going to enjoy my birthday on a quieter note, sleeping in and being lazy.
All in all, I am a contented gal. Things may not have gone quite as planned, but in the end it was a fun weekend and a learning experience.
And now, I'm off to finish commissions and get my butt ready for AB in a couple of weeks. Should anyone need me, I'll be up to my eyeballs in yarn. ;3
