Hello everybody.
I'd first like to start off with a big thank you to you all. I first started writing fan fiction 3 years ago to a small audience and now I have a community with over 400 members and over 300 watchers.
However, recently, I've been getting spam comments on fics. It used to be every so often but now it's more like an average of 5 a day and it really annoys me. On the subject of comments... The reason my community is open is so that anyone can read my work without having to beg me to allow them access because I'm only a fic writer and these are only fics. But although view counts of my fics are high, comments aren't and this has been a problem for a while. I understand that not every view of a fic is someone who enjoyed it or even someone that has read it all the way through but others are and it bothers me that these people never comment. It sounds childish but it's true. I see other fics with comments into their 80s+ and my fics used to be like that but these days, mine struggle to get 5.
For these reasons, when I have the time this week, I'm going to begin the process of locking many, if not all, of the fics here and making membership request only. If you are already a member but you've never commented, I'm afraid I'll have to delete you and if you still wish to be a member, you'll have to request to join.
It may sound a little harsh and arrogant but when you're getting more spam comments than comments from real people who have enjoyed your fic, you know it's time to re-evaluate.
