Last night, I ran into a brick wall of 64-note polyphony at 120 bpm. It wasn't pretty. Yes, I should have seen it coming. At some point I know I read the sign that said "brick wall at 64-note polyphony," but I didn't think I'd actually, y'know, hit it.
Consequently, my "have the S08 cover everything until we get more live musicians" plan seems to be flawed. I can use other sound sources, but then I can't use the S08's onboard sequencer, which means more hardware and/or a laptop. Feh.
In retrospect, I wonder if that detail combined with a bad setting on the keyboard was causing the worst of my Linux audio woes.
