a realization...
I spent today helping lots of freshmen set up their new computers... which consisted of installing lots of antivirus software and explaining that their e-mail username/password is on an orange card in their mailbox.
After work Carly asked me "did you meet any cool people?"
My response: "No, not really... if they'd been cool, they wouldn't have needed me to help them set up their computers.........
My realization: although I do get to meet quite a few people through my job as an RCC, very few of them are people I'd want to be friends with.
note: there deffinitely ARE people I help with legitimate computer problems. I mean, I even consider not knowing how to get rid of excessive spyware/adware to be a somewhat legitimate problem. But if you can't install your own antivirus software............
note 2: 'm also thankful that there are people who do need me to help them with easy stuff, since it's easy and I get paid for it. I spent a lot of today waiting around for people to come ask for help. We watched Family Guy while we waited. :-)
unrelated note: Dani, tonight we were all like, "how the fuck did we let Dani decide to go abroad?" Between the three of us we were completely incompetent to think of anything fun we wanted to do.
addition to unrelated note: I need to find more stuff to do/people to hang out with around here. Otherwise I think I'll go insane this semester... as will Carly. Probably Katie too, though she knows a lot more people/does more stuff than either of us.
conclusion: meh............................................bleh.......................feh................
