(
jobz, part 1)
about 40 applications sent out this week. a lot of cafe jobs, sadly. some progress made.
really keeping my fingers crossed that the
english tutoring job can become something steady,
allowing for an extra few hundred dollars in the evenings even if i manage to get a regular office gig
as my main source of income.
-
the documentarian offered me 35$ for doing a phone interview with him about my experience
at the
recent new school lecture. An additional 15$ if he could use my name. The fact that he kept
pushing the $$ (as much as I need it) made me uncomfortable. He shouldn't have a problem finding volunteers
who'll speak to him for free and who have more political awareness than I.
-receiving 175$ for a cat sitting gig in Greenpoint Dec 19-Jan 1!
-monday: BIG NEWS--i'll be tutoring a 6 year-old boy in english. he was born in Brooklyn but
has had primarily Russian-speaking caretakers and teachers thus far and needs some help building
his vocabulary, etc. 20$/hr x 2-hour session. i may be doing this as much as 2 to 3 times a week
if it works out and i get along with the kid and the parents!
-tuesday: passing out postcards for mediaport (it's like a "music atm"!)
at Rockefeller plaza 8-10am and then 4-8pm.
call or text me if you want to stop by (i need to take photos of
30 people taking the cards during the course of the day
as proof of a job done). the gig pays about 100$ for the day
and steve is doing it with me, so that's 200$ between the two of us!
-UPDATE: interview with
amy's bread at 2:00pm on wednesday.
8.50$/hr but it's a good start. and if i can get some free bread every once in a while.. that would be amazing
-thursday: temp agency interview. steve's friend recommended the place and they seem decent.
