Hello, my name is Gabriel Gentile and I'm a Brony. Yes, I'm a 35 year old male and I enjoy watching a cartoon show that is based on a line of toys designed for little girls. Why? For the following reasons...
1. The art, while heavily stylized, is clean and well put-together.
2. The characters are likable and sympathetic.
3. The humor is funny and even slightly subversive at times, but never to the point of being shocking for the sake of shock.
4. And most importantly of all, in my opinion, the writing respects the intelligence of its audience and doesn't talk down to them.
Yes, there is a certain amount of moralizing involved in the plot of each episode, but I've yet to see this show deliver any message that would be damaging to a little girl's psyche, self-esteem or social development or in a heavy-handed "preachy" manner.
So there it is, out in the open, black-and-white. Criticize me if you must, but if you do and I find out later that you watch "Jersey Shore", understand that I'll feel justified to reciprocate in a manner that will likely involve contusions about the head and face.
