All the animal documentaries I have watched is seriously leaving me confused. I get the urge to visit zoos and conservatories now that I know more about them but at the same time, I should know that animals are supposed to run freely in the wild and holding them captive is just--man I don't know what's the word. I don't think it's wrong--there I said it--because humans are such strange creatures, fixing what they destroy. If it weren't for conservation plans, my favourite animal would have said goodbye to the world by now.
The main question remains: should I visit the zoo?
Should I be paying only to unwittingly take part in some animal cruelty programme? What I'm perfectly clear of is I will never ever pay to have animals entertain me, unless you count watching them behind glass walls as an entertainment. It sort of is, isn't it? SIGH. So confusing. What I mean is activities like riding the elephants, swimming with dolphins etc. They shouldn't be kept to serve as humans' toys, but for people to learn and understand them. I think animals should be treated with respect and also, humans should just stop anthropomorphizing them.
I'm really thinking of going, perhaps on my birthday month 'cos it's free. In this way, I'm not exactly 'supporting' animal captivity, right!?
PS: I'm thoroughly disgusted that my sis said horses are born to be rode by humans. They are actually really made like this to run from predators and people like her!
