I'm still not convinced this movie is going to be any better than the previous X films but I love how Hugh talks about the character, I feel he genuinely loves playing him.
At the time I thought the first movie was an okay starting point... apart from the rape of Rogue's character and the god awful casting of Jean, Storm and Cyclops. The second was better, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler kicked ass, but I had issues with the whole Bobby, Rogue, John triangle... and the fact that Colossus had an American accent? Don't get me started. It was at that point I realised that Bryan 'my head's so far up my own ass' Singer really didn't give a flyin fuck about the characters and their history - something he later achieved spectacularly in Superman Returns

How do you feel on the Ultimate Marvel Universe? Rogue absorbed all of Gambit's power when he died and primarily had his ability for a few months, during which she could touch others and dated Iceman. Colossus used to be an arms dealer before joining the school and is currently dating Northstar...
I've stayed clear of the Ultimate 'verse. Although I do have them sat on my hard drive, I've just never had the courage to read them... and now thanks to your enlightenment I don't think I ever will. Just reading your post makes me feel sullied and unusual. ;)
I get why certain pre-established cannon has to be changed from time to time when translating the 'verse to other mediums but I feel the X movies were not looked after with the care and attention they deserved.

It boggles the mind, it truley does.
It sounds like bad crack!fic... which sadly I like to read once in a while, *cough* while inebriated. So you never know, there may be hope for the Ultimate 'verse yet, I'm always up for a laugh.

Well....I like AU stuff as much as the next guy, sometimes more, but it usually doesn't last this long. Take the Age of Apocalypse, classic AU. Great series, new takes on old characters. It was beautiful...
...I don't think I'd've liked it an as ongoing series though.
Like the current travesty going on with Spidey and the Brand New Day.

I'm a sucker for the AoA. I'd just got my first job and could afford my own subscriptions. I think it was the first time I was ever able to afford all the cross over titles... ah, nostalgia. I always felt they did a fine job with it, although I know a lot of peeps that would argue the case for the other side.
I've not kept up with Spidey, in fact I've only just come back to the X fold after an 8 year absence. Which means I've been absent from Spidey's life for nearly 15 years! How bad is it?

It's not "bad" bad so much as annoying. Storyline reason is that things were going so bad in his life and Aunt May was dying that Peter made a deal with Mephisto to alter the timeline to allow May to be unharmed
