At the time I thought the first movie was an okay starting point... apart from the rape of Rogue's character and the god awful casting of Jean, Storm and Cyclops. The second was better, Alan Cumming as Nightcrawler kicked ass, but I had issues with the whole Bobby, Rogue, John triangle... and the fact that Colossus had an American accent? Don't get me started. It was at that point I realised that Bryan 'my head's so far up my own ass' Singer really didn't give a flyin fuck about the characters and their history - something he later achieved spectacularly in Superman Returns.
The third was a disaster. I sat through it earlier this year for a second time and as much as seeing Warren fly, and Kelsey rockin' the house as Hank, on the big screen gives me warm fuzzies I wish the movie didn't exist. My disappointment seeing it for the first time was epic, I had such high hopes. *sniff*
I'm looking forward to Wolverine big time, I just feel that some of the scenes and dialogue we've seen so far are a little cheesy... and I'm still bitter Remy is missing his trademark red eyes.
*prays they don't fuck up her second fav X character after the aforementioned handling of her all time favourite Rogue*
How do you feel on the Ultimate Marvel Universe? Rogue absorbed all of Gambit's power when he died and primarily had his ability for a few months, during which she could touch others and dated Iceman. Colossus used to be an arms dealer before joining the school and is currently dating Northstar...
I've stayed clear of the Ultimate 'verse. Although I do have them sat on my hard drive, I've just never had the courage to read them... and now thanks to your enlightenment I don't think I ever will. Just reading your post makes me feel sullied and unusual. ;)
I get why certain pre-established cannon has to be changed from time to time when translating the 'verse to other mediums but I feel the X movies were not looked after with the care and attention they deserved.

It boggles the mind, it truley does.
It sounds like bad crack!fic... which sadly I like to read once in a while, *cough* while inebriated. So you never know, there may be hope for the Ultimate 'verse yet, I'm always up for a laugh.

Well....I like AU stuff as much as the next guy, sometimes more, but it usually doesn't last this long. Take the Age of Apocalypse, classic AU. Great series, new takes on old characters. It was beautiful...
...I don't think I'd've liked it an as ongoing series though.
Like the current travesty going on with Spidey and the Brand New Day.

I'm a sucker for the AoA. I'd just got my first job and could afford my own subscriptions. I think it was the first time I was ever able to afford all the cross over titles... ah, nostalgia. I always felt they did a fine job with it, although I know a lot of peeps that would argue the case for the other side.
I've not kept up with Spidey, in fact I've only just come back to the X fold after an 8 year absence. Which means I've been absent from Spidey's life for nearly 15 years! How bad is it?

It's not "bad" bad so much as annoying. Storyline reason is that things were going so bad in his life and Aunt May was dying that Peter made a deal with Mephisto to alter the timeline to allow May to be unharmed...
...the real deal is a new guy became the head of Marvel Comics and he never liked the fact Spidey and MJ became an item so with this little twist he undid the whole thing like it never happened.
Most fans are still up in arms about it...which stuns the people behind the comic who thought it would've blown over by now.
He's living with Aunt May again, he was never married to MJ; they dated but things didn't work out. Granted, some really new cool villaisn have popped out and it is kind of like classic Spidey from the old days but there are really 2 things that bug me.
1) Just before Mephisto changed things he revealed his main motivation was to prevent the future birth of their daughter who would become a great thorn in his side.
2) Spidey was really coming along and all of that is gone. He's back to a stage in his life where he can't really support himself and while he's still as tough as ever, more or less, he's no longer quite as self sustaining.

That's the cliff notes version.
