Well.....it's HERE!!!

I picked up my NEW car today. *whew* What a HUGE sigh of relief for me, especially legally. I was so scared I was going to end up in an accident and then they would find out I'm driving a "salvage" car!!! Legally, I didn't own it, Ford did...so luckily the dealership realized what a precarious position this was and gave "us" the Clunker people our cars. ;) The problem is....the vouchers still haven't come in. 4 Days and the vouchers are still not processed. That should tell you how many claims they are processing. The word is...they will probably run out of money for this C4C bill by Labor Day...my money is two weeks!!!

Over the past month some things have been going on my old car. There was a deep rumbling noise under the hood when I started it. The back end was being held on with luck...it was rusted around the wheel-well and through the bottom of the back door. There was even a hole where I put the gas in around the cap. Then two weeks ago my dome light goes out, cheap to fix...but a sure sign. Then last night, it rained and my foot was getting wet from water dripping in from somewhere under the drivers side. So...it was TIME to go to the bone-yard. Signs were pointing to "get rid of it NOW before you are stranded on the road".

One of the things the dealer has to do is make sure the engine is "non-functioning" before it goes to the salvage yard. So they have to give it a "lethal injection" of sodium silicate or empty out the oil and run the engine until it seizes and burns out the pistons. I think I prefer the "lethal injection", more humane.

I waved goodbye to it, gave it a pat on the hood and said thanks for the 10 years of safe driving it gave me. Never broke down and left me stranded...even on my trip to Kentucky and back...although it did protest a bit. It wasn't cheap to drive, not with it being a gas guzzler but it was safe, especially in the winter. So this new car better live up to it's predecessor...I've warned it. LOL!!!!

Now I can enjoy some things again that I haven't been able to do in years.
1. Take it to the drive-thru car wash.
2. Take trips longer than 20 miles.
3. Only fill up the car 2X a month instead of 4!!! Although I've been warned it might take 2 oil changes before it's running at peak condition. Hey...anything is better than 12 miles to the gallon!!!
4. Everything is under warranty except for the usual maintenance items.
5. Fog lights...I have fog lights!!!
6. NEW car smell!!!!!!!!!

The funny thing is, when I took my nephew to the HP movie Sunday night, he said, "I've always liked the smell of your car." I laughed, hope he likes the smell of my new car. ;)

Here's a couple of websites that show exactly what my car looks like. Mine's quicksilver in color.
