Who knew that mounting a fireplace facade on the wall would be such an ordeal. In order to lift it above the baseboards (which are tall), Jeff thinks we need to have a more secure way of attaching it, and that it should have "feet" added that take it all the way down to the floor. Sounds simple, yes? No. So Mabry's room has year ANOTHER thing that we're having to "wait" on. I'm sure he'll figure out something (right now, he's thinking he'll just notch out the wood on the back of the facade so that it leaves room for the baseboard), but waiting it NOT my strong-suit. I want it done NOW!
I think I'll finish stripping the vanity tomorrow. That way I can paint it. We have a semi-gloss latex that we'll use. But I also bought some cans of spray gloss to overlay for an extra level of protection. I'd like to take the piece to the glass company and let them cut out a glass topper for it. I know Mabry will be sitting there to draw a lot and I'd rather it not get beat up too quickly.
Did I mention that the color of the vanity and the toy chest is called "mac-n-cheese"? It's TOTALLY the exact color of Kraft macaroni and cheese. This is also the color in one of the paintings we already have from Katie. It's gonna match really well. I'm excited to SEEEEEE it!
