To get lost is a more common concept than people often realize. It is easy to look into a mirror or a lake/pond and see the reflection isn't who it used to be. Time will have it's way, but that doesn't mean you don't have to either. Unless you play just the part of a rider on the storm. Do you chose to navigate or to move? Would you chose to go numb? Or even forget?
On a sheer subconscious/emotional level. You become lost with yourself. To feel as though you don't know some of who you are, or what you want in a mere root basis. Remind you that roots are all part of a taproot- not the big underlying picture, but important still. To feel you get a sense of urgency, to get somewhere quickly, as though time is running up. To look back frequently at the hourglass just to see exactly what you know- the sand still runs as sure as water through your hands. You want to help people; specifically the people close to you; but people still. The desire to help so much that you lose sight of where your running, or how long you've run, what you've gone through, and what time can do. You lose sight of yourself being so caught up with everything else. You don't even get time to stop and awe the scenery. Smell the roses. Embrace the things you really want. Too caught up in getting something so important inside you done, something that can never really end- lost sight of what really matters. You can't save anyone if you can't first accept to help yourself. Even those close to you, you lose memory of who they are. You can still feel it. It still exists. But you need to take "you" time and recall- re-align. So cautious, so restrained, can't have the things your actually sure of. Morality and ideal is good in understanding, in respect, in retrospect. But morality can become vain and become a vice rather than an ideal itself. We can lose ourselves and become ensnared by our very intentions. Good or bad. They are the same. Intentions.
Ask yourself. Really ask yourself. Have you taken the time to think? To look at something, think about it, then pause and actually think about it again. Understand it more than once? Understand what you think about it? Surprising how there can be more to you than you thought you knew. Sad that you would let it get like this.
Your life is ultimately in your hands. What is your ideal? What will you permit for your will? Will you build up your walls to keep other out? Do you realize that you keep yourself in? We don't always have to justify our actions or though. However our actions can all too easily be misinterpreted, being that there is always more than one way to look at it. But the moments that make up our present go by so quickly that we can't fret about our impressions or having to justify them. Rather, make them what you want them to be. We can't make people think or feel a certain way. Only give influence to what we want, and see how it takes. Then, after it all- all that you are is all that you do.
