“Good argument Ian, but as I said, it's not as simple as just not drinking. I know you were simply making a point by using vanilla milkshakes as an example, but, except for them not being incredibly healthy, they're not really going to harm you much. Not nearly as much as drink, drugs and sex with random people are going to (in the long run anyway

Metabolism: Not well functioning in all people. Also, have you ever heard of the liver? Do you know that pot leaves the body in a matter of months and not only that, but it's responsible for what, none of the deaths in America? Do you know how much pot you'd have to smoke in order to kill yourself? And exactly how many crack addicts have you saved with your edge? How many cocaine addicts have said, "Hey look at him. We should be clean now."
To those who are under 21, drugs and alcohol are illegal: So what? You break the law with every song you download on your computer, every time you speed in your car, every time you skate where you’re not supposed to, and there are an assortment of other ways people break the law every day.
If you’re going to crusade against breaking the law, which is apparently what you stand for now, than you have to go all or nothing. If you have any illegally downloaded mp3s, delete them. If you’re old enough to drive, you better not ever go over the limit. Shit, you better not jaywalk. You better not cross the road unless it’s a crosswalk. Either that, or your argument is based in hypocrisy.
And I've never called the impact of those choices small. Coming from a family plagued with alcoholism, I know what drugs and alcohol can cause. Probably more so than you could ever understand.
Rather, I stated that, while the choice you make is indeed important, their relevance in everyday life is lacking. Are you confronted with alcohol and drugs every 10 minutes? I doubt it. I've grown up with alcoholics and drug addicts, so if you're going to pit your experiences against mine, don't waste your time. I know it comes up. And I know I've said no quite a few times. But I've moved on. I made those choices on my own without the aid of guideless, rules, and elitism.
And about age and naivety. I will note for what is now the third time that making attacks geared towards my character does nothing but show that your own arguments need the help of making me look stupid. And in turn, your arguments are proven to be invalid and foolish. Regardless of my age, which is extremely unimportant in respect to all of what we’re talking about, I’m going to have to say you’re wrong in thinking I’m naïve. Naivety is using slander as a form of argument strengthening. Naivety is you requiring that I explain all of my arguments in laymen’s terms. Naivety is you making half-assed arguments without any support nor proof, but rather using speculation.
Naivety is falling into a group simply because it seems like the right thing to do, because it’s the cool thing to do, because you want to feel like you stand for something.
One more time, I will say: Make your choices and move on with your life. Lead by example, be proud of your choices. But live life. Stop conforming to the ideals and standards of an elitest group of 13 year olds, who think they have the world figured out.
