Alexandra noticed, as she always did when it came to horses, that Bucephalus was uneasy... Every time Alexander and Hephaistion were going out on their usual rides, Bucephalus would nudge and push Auburn, the mare, in response, galloped as far away from the dark horse as she could, taking her owner along with her.
Whenever she saw this, Alexandra giggled as hard as she could... Alexander had no idea what was wrong with his horse, and Hephaistion was starting to worry about Auburn because Bucephalus was frightening her, but neither of them knew what was going on.
The cherry on the cake of this whole situation was that one sunny morning, Hephaistion discovered in horror that Bucephalus was trying to mount his poor mare. Auburn wailed and backed away in fear, while Bucephalus tried to unsuccessfully mount the mare. It was then decided that the horses should be kept separate.
It didn't work...
Much to the soldiers' dismay, both horses kicked their paddocks and made as much noise as they could when separated. Alexander was going mad, when Bucephalus didn't make any noise, he would lay on the hay and look as miserable as a warhorse can look, he refused to eat or drink anything, while Auburn wailed sadly and sighed so hard the other horses grew uneasy.
Hephaistion petted Auburn and looked at his lover and at the girl inside the paddock.
“What do we do? If we put them together, Bucephalus will attack her, but if we separate them, they will both die of sadness...”
“I still can't believe you are both so simple minded...” Alexandra sighed and stood from a little pack of hay. “They aren't attacking each other... They are trying to mate and you two won't let them!”
“They what?!” Alexander grew pale. “I mean, what?!”
“They want to have babies, clearer now?”
“But... But...”
“Put the horse back in here and leave them alone for one night... They just need a little... Push...”
As Alexandra had predicted, as soon as the two horses were in the same place, they started nuzzling each other and pushing their bodies gently against each other, Alexandra shooed the king and his general away, telling them the lovebirds needed some privacy. Bucephalus and the king made love to the keepers of their hearts that night.
They just needed a little push...

He promised he would never leave me alone... That if the ship sank and I was still in it, he would go look for me to the bottom of the ocean... He left a tear on my side, in case I ever woke up and he would not be by my side, it would console me... I almost die in my dreams... Where has his love gone to?
And when I opened my eyes, when the pain of his loss finally settled on me, I found a sick emptiness... I woke up and darkness blanketed my reflection... The kiss of silence impregnated everything with loneliness... Time goes by so slowly since his beautiful eyes closed on me forever...
I am now alone and I don't know yet if it was my fault... I tried to drown my pain in wine, as if it could erase his memory... But without him I know not where reason lies... Who told you lied, when they said, my love... That I would not be in pain if you left me...
He left hope for a miracle... He was so sure there was no way for him to still be with me... We could not be together and bask in our love anymore... It was impossible... And when I woke up I found that sick emptiness, and darkness covered me without the light of his eyes... The kiss of silence alienated me... Time goes by so slowly since he left...
He left me behind and I still don't know if it was me. Guilt disappeared, I drowned my pride in wine, for I could not keep him with me, not even with all my power. I do not know where reason lays without him. The desire escaped with him... And I turned off every light...
