Legendary party every night.umbreon_blackyAugust 25 2010, 23:56:30 UTC
While Blacky may have normally been patrolling the school grounds under the moonlight, she didn't feel entirely up to it since getting back from Kanto. Instead, she spent most of the evening curled up on her futon with an old trashy romance novel. She heard the tapping, but at first she didn't quite register it - but as she turned the page, something urged her to glance out the window.
Oh. Boy. Her favourite Lake Spirit. Were these visits from legendaries going to be a nightly thing? She tucked the book under her pillow and got up, leisurely stretching her back before opening the window for Uxie.
If you beat them at Twister you get to be Legendary too.betterthanawikiAugust 26 2010, 00:10:05 UTC
Uxie took a seat on the windowsill, curling his tails around his body. "I would hardly call it unexpected, dear Blacky." Certainly not after so many interesting things had happened. "You've been through quite a lot, after all; I felt that perhaps you could use a sympathetic ear. You don't mind if I come in, do you?"
And having said that, he held out his arms, like a child demanding to be picked up.
Hot damn I am well on my way to legendary statusumbreon_blackyAugust 26 2010, 00:21:16 UTC
That gesture... It was like he knew he was appealing to her unsatisfied maternal instincts. He was using his appearance to his advantage, a trick Blacky knew well. But here she was, falling for it. Maybe she did need something small and huggable to talk to. Someone who just might be able to pretend to agree with her point of view, since nobody else was.
She picked him up and held him to her shoulder like a baby. The air coming from outside was cool, but not too chilly, so she decided to leave the window open before heading back to the futon.
"Hmmmh," she sighed as she sat down, still cradling Uxie. "It's awfully kind of you to lend your ear this late at night. I'm sure you know all about what happened last week, hm?"
Yeah well. Left foot yellow, blue, and mahogany. NOW WHAT.betterthanawikiAugust 26 2010, 01:29:34 UTC
"Of course," Uxie purred. There was certainly no need to play coy; he imagined that word of this would be all over the school in a matter of days. Especially if he had anything to do with it. "You may put up a detatched air, but goodness... your heart is simply too big. I wonder if anyone here truly understands how deeply, how bitterly you must feel things."
It was, after all, quite easy to understand why Blacky had staged the kidnapping. Why she wanted so desperately to hurt Giovanni. It was a crime of passion -- karma at its simplest, really. "But... aiya, how frustrating! People just don't understand, do they? To think that even fellow Pokemon would choose to intervene..."

"Arceus Herself being one of them." She frowned, tracing the ridges on Uxie's hood with her fingertips. It was probably bad to speak ill of Arceus in front of another Legendary - they seemed to have a particularly close bond with her, after all. Blacky would have to choose her words carefully if she were to speak them at all.
"I... I know she must have this grand scheme set out, and that my own lifespan is too insignificantly short to possibly understand what her plans in the long run are, but... It is frustrating. I'll never understand how a supposedly benevolent god can let such things happen."
She paused, a thought occurring to her. "...She did mention... a time when she was the one causing pain and destruction. What do you know about that?"
Legendaries don't play fair. DEAL WITH IT.betterthanawikiAugust 26 2010, 03:47:08 UTC
"Everything." As if Blacky could expect any other answer.
At first, it seemed as though that was all Uxie had to say on the topic; he lapsed into silence, save for a soft, contented cooing with each caress of his head. Finally, though, he spoke up once again.
"Understand, dear creature... I love the Original One. However... she is not the perfect being you perceive her to be. It is for good reason that I insist on remaining an impartial outside force in these mundane matters; I fear that spending time amongst her children has made her too sentimental. She grows more concerned with letting no bad happen than with preserving balance, and the end result is something like what happened the other day. She lets the village burn, but shelters the arsonist. Or worse... we have what happened all those years ago; a foolish abuse of power for petty emotional reasons."

It was a little difficult to accept the idea that the being who created the world was less than perfect. But if some human creation myths involved mankind being created in God's image, and humanity was so clearly flawed, then maybe it wasn't so far-fetched after all.
Of course, Uxie's answer didn't provide the in-depth look into Bob's motives and history... But something like that must have been in a history- or mythology-related text somewhere.
"Emotional reasons... You would think somebody so timeless wouldn't get attached to such fleeting lives as ours, hm?" She chuckled a bit. She was, of course, referring to people with regular lifespans and Uxie didn't count. "Although I can understand becoming attached to one's creations. Her children."
"We all get a little too attached sometimes," Uxie agreed idly. "It's difficult to watch a loved one suffer when you know you have the power to put an end to that pain. It makes us act unwisely, that sort of love. Wouldn't you agree?"
Without waiting for an answer, Uxie simply plodded right on. "Tell me," he purred, "do you believe that what happened was justice? Is it unforgivable, I wonder, to take a life under any circumstances... or are there acts that cannot simply be wiped away with a mere 'I feel really bad about what I did'?"
The power to put an end to that pain... Surely he couldn't be suggesting...?! No. Of course not. Such a thought shouldn't have even crossed Blacky's mind. Oh god. What if that ended up being the only solution?
"...I wanted not only to avenge him, but to make sure that such a thing would never happen again. A necessary evil. Of course, there would have been those who disagreed. Those who would have wanted to avenge Giovanni. Although I can't imagine who..."
"...What? What happened?" She scowled. So Bob would protect Giovanni, but not her own child. Perhaps the bonds between the Legendaries and Arceus weren't as strong as they seemed.
"Something was taken from me." Uxie mumbled into Blacky's shoulder, curling his tails around his body. "Giovanni is not the only one here who would view Pokemon as a means to an end."
Right. Having only one person who used and abused Pokemon would just be too easy. "So what do you do, knowing there is somebody here who has harmed you before and could very well do it again? Unless you know for certain that they won't...?"
"He most certainly will. We are little more than means to an end to him, and that man will never deviate from his delusional goals." Uxie's expression darkened briefly, and he wriggled down deeper into Blacky's arms.
"Still, you know how the Original One feels about taking a human's life. She is kind enough to indulge me my harmless mischief -- I'm afraid she would not tolerate it if I were to eradicate those dangerous aims from his head, too. Therefore... aiya, my only option is to be prepared. They trapped me while I slept the first time. This time... I have no intention of repeating my mistakes."
Taking a human's life was such a greater sin than taking a Pokemon's. Or worse. That's how it seemed, anyway. It made her feel so filthy, taking a human form in such a conversation. She gently set Uxie next to her and reverted back to her original form, curling up around him. At least he could still understand her.
"If preparation is all we can do, then... Hmm. I suppose I should make sure to be prepared as well." She put a paw over his tiny little body. "Although you do have this dreadful habit of falling asleep all over the place. Are you sure you'll be alright?"
"Have a little more faith, dear Blacky! It is rather difficult to stay awake, but even if the worst should come... for every man that would exploit a Pokemon for their own ends, there are ten that would risk themselves to save one." Uxie switched languages with her -- as convenient as it was to be understood by humans, in the end, he vastly preferred his native tongue, so to speak.
"Of course... I don't intend to rely on any humans, if it can be helped. It often seems that only a fellow Pokemon can understand just what it's like to be in that sort of situation, don't you think?"
